Southern California Waterfront Campground seeks management team - Palo Verde, CA, CA
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We are a small waterfront RV Park and Campground in Southern California on the Colorado River seeking a full time, live in management team to run day to day operations. Our camp features 50 hook-up sites, abundant tent/dry camping, a store and bar, boat launch and day use area. We are looking for a full time, permanent camp management team to live on site.
We have a dedicated manager's site with full hook-ups that can accommodate everything from large 5th wheels to a park model/single wide trailer. This position pays a salary based on work load and experience. 1 week paid vacation the first two years, moves up to 2 weeks paid vacation after that. Vacation(s) are generally spring and/or late fall, early winter. Unfortunatly no vacation time in the middle of summer or holidays. Rent is included as part of the compensation. The team ABSOLUTELY MUST BE friendly, upbeat types who love tight knit structures. Our campground is basically the weekend river house for Southern California families, some of whom have had trailers here for 30 years. The bulk of our business is with our long time renters and their families so making sure they feel at home here is our most important requirement. Must also be OK with lots of dogs running around.
We are a small family run camp that is very family orientated. We do not have full time residents and see the majority of our business on weekends and holidays. The middle of the week is usually very quiet making for a very low stress, easy going work place. The management team needs to fulfill two sets of duties.
One person will need to have restaurant/bar (or comparable) experience who is comfortable with people drinking and familiar with using an Ipad. This person is responsible for running the small store and bar, guest check in/out, reservations and is responsible for keeping the store and bathroom building stocked and clean. The bathroom/shower building is not a large and the store is also somewhat small so both tasks are easily handled by one person. We do not serve food but the store can get busy at times with people buying beers at the bar so being comfortable in that type of environment is necessary.
The second team member is responsible for general maintenance and camp cleanliness. They must be experienced in handyman tasks and be able to physically handle light duty repairs, landscaping and clean up duties. Any significant repairs or work is handled by the two owners. This job mostly consists of keeping the grass green and mowed, minor plumbing and electrical repairs such as repairing broken sprinkler heads, replacing 30 amp pig tails, using a gas weedwacker around camp, keeping the water front pavilion tidy etc. Nothing major, basically just futzing around camp making sure it doesn't look like a dump. Additionally things like some painting, re-installing site number posts when they are run over etc. will be required.
Couple things about the location. We are somewhat isolated. Nearest grocery store is 30-40 minutes away, nearest large city with movie theaters/restaurants etc is 1.5 hours away and the camp does not have WIFI. What we do have is absolute desert beauty with the Colorado River in front and the Sonoran Desert in back. Excellent watersports, fishing, hunting and recreating in the desert is what this place is all about. This is the desert so candidates will need to be OK with hot to occasional very hot summers, cold winters, occasional monsoon storms, possibility of being cut off from leaving for a couple days after a flash flood while the county fixes the road and general living away from big city conveniences. ATT is the only cellular company that works at camp so anyone in this job will need to get an ATT cellular phone and data plan if internet and phone calls are important.
Lastly, for the past 30 years camp hosts a huge Thanksgiving week starting the weekend before Turkey day and ending the Monday immediately after. It is a must that our camp managers are on site and working this entire week. None of us get a day off this week as we will pit roast a couple hundred pounds of pig, fry a dozen turkeys and host a couple hundred people for a week of food, family and events. Please know in advance, being in camp and working the entire Thanksgiving week is a non-negotiable requirement.
Hours are Monday through Wednesday 8am to 4pm, Thursday and Friday days off, Saturday and Sunday 7am to 5pm. All the weekly duties can easily be handled in a small amount of hours spread out over the weekdays. We don't require someone to sit in the store the entire time if the camp is empty and only one person has to be "on site" at all times which leaves lots of flexibility between the two people.
If you think this is something that fits please contact me. We are looking to fill this position as soon as the right team is found. All candidates will need to have a full nationwide background check and credit check performed at our cost.
I'd love to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
