Romantic RiverSong lies on 26 acres with a rushing mountain stream and hiking trails. Built in 1922 as a family getaway and transformed into a B&B in 1986 with 10 guest rooms, each designed with flair and elegance. Our team is excellent and the operation of the Inn has been refined over 38 years to be a smooth process that creates delighted guests.
We are looking for an energetic, outgoing couple who enjoys nature and the outdoors. You love creating magical, memorable experiences for guests and are meticulous in attention to detail. You are great under pressure and able to multitask. You enjoy Innkeeping on a team, are self-motivated, and comfortable working solo. As a manager, you are able to seek to understand and then to be understood, working out problems and issues with patience and grace.
We expect that you come with strong experience in B&B operations (or boutique hotel operations), especially hands-on experience in housekeeping, laundry, cooking, and guest operations. For maintenance, we are looking for experience with all kinds of around-the-house tasks. Light construction, mechanical and electrical is a plus.
Each Managing Innkeeper position is collaborative and comprehensive, including innkeeping, maintenance, coordination, supervision, management, and accountability to the owners. You will manage a mix of full-time, part-time and contract staff. We have listed many of your responsibilities below, with other duties as assigned.
Cost, Quality and Delivery
- Maintain 5-star ratings on TripAdvisor and 4.9 ratings on Google, Yelp, Facebook and other sites.
- Maintain “Exceeded Expectations” ratings on guest feedback cards.
- Coordinate, manage and perform weddings.
- Track guest feedback to identify and execute the most important room improvements.
- Learn and then analyze expenses for cost-reduction opportunities.
- Reduce costs. Respond to budget alerts.
- Shop Costco, Trader Joe's, Sam's Club, Amazon, etc. for food, cleaners and other supplies.
- Coordinate and support the outside bookkeeper.
Maintenance and Repair
- Maintain and repair the land, buildings, rooms, kitchen, laundry and all areas of the Inn.
- Prioritize projects with owners and advice from Innkeepers.
- Coordinate, support and manage maintenance staff as well as outside contractors.
Innkeeping Shifts and Additional Tasks
- Complete Innkeeping shifts on a team with amazing coworkers.
- Coordinate, support and manage innkeeping staff.
- Lead by example. Follow through on all shift duties, additional tasks, and managing new tasks that maintain everything our guests see or experience at the Inn.
- Manage Innkeeper’s question and concerns. Follow through on answers. Follow through on solutions.
- Maintain and manage the shift duties list, the additional tasks list, and the Managing Innkeeper tasks list. Accept final responsibility for the routine completion of these lists by the staff.
- Coordinate, support and quality-control contract housekeepers.
Special Project Examples
With support and logistical help from the owners:
- Test recipes from our 38 years in business.
- Plan and initiate a multi-year fire risk reduction effort.
Marketing
With support and logistical help from the owners:
- Market the Inn to Colorado interest groups.
- Market the Inn for winter week-long retreats.
- Co-market the Inn with local groups and events.
- Market weddings.
Short-Term and Part-Time Labor
- Coordinate the hiring of and manage the performance of short-term labor, including foreign J1 summer staff.
- Build cost-saving local relationships for occasional positions including servers, laundry, maintenance. Then manage that staff for peak days to reduce labor costs.
- Coordinate temp staff for special projects.
There are *two* salaried positions available.

Other requirements include the ability to lift and move 40 lbs of water, laundry, or trash, plus the ability to cart trash, firewood or supplies uphill.
On Site Motel Management - Topsail Beach, NC

The Motel is located on Topsail Beach at the islands south end. The property is open all year round for guests with spring and summer being the busiest times.
Property includes the 47 room motel with on site restaurant, two cottage rental properties, swimming pool, boat docks and fishing pier. The property appeals to guests who enjoy relaxing in a nice coastal atmosphere.
Necessary skills include: All aspects of Hospitality, office management, guest relations, housekeeping and basic maintenance/operational skills.
We are looking for an active and motivated team.
This is a hands-on management position, and duties/responsibilities vary with the seasonal aspects of the property.

Couple will live on site. Salary plus room and board and utilities included. One Week PTO after one year.
FEATURED JOB OPENING: Private Property Caretakers - Cumberland Island, GA

Have you ever dreamed of living and working on a beautiful island? Come join us on Cumberland island off the southern coast of Georgia. 90% of the island is a National park with 18 miles of mostly uninhabited beach, miles of hiking trails and great fishing.
We are looking for a couple. One, would help with the cleaning of homes and the other to help with maintenance and upkeep of 8 homes on 30 plus acres. This is a private family compound and all the homes are vacation homes. Family members come and go throughout the year. You would be responsible for preparing their homes, vehicles, boats, and grounds for their arrival. During their stay, you would help with any maintenance issue. Once they have departed, you would cleaning the homes and vehicles.
The island is only accessible by boat. You will be provide transportation to and from the island via the family private boat.
We offer a one bedroom, one bath, fully furnished staff apartment with all utilities included. A company vehicle with fuel included to use on the island. Two weeks paid vacation after 6 months.
FEATURED JOB OPENING: Domestic Couple - LIVE IN - Landrum, SC

Family with a vacation home in South Carolina is seeking an experienced full-time domestic couple to maintain the family home and property year round. Family is typically at the residence approximately 90 days out the year. The property consists of a 5-bedroom home, pool house, and a mancave/guest quarters (total of approx. 9,000 sq ft). The ideal candidates are sophisticated, professional, and experienced in the efficient and smooth operation of a high end home. The culture of the home is informal, however, the expectations for quality service is high, similar to a five-star hotel. The position is comprised of two roles:
1) Executive Housekeeper
2) Groundskeeper/Maintenance
Candidates must be flexible with their work schedule. While owners and guests are on site, work days will include later hours and weekends. While owners are off site, work hours will be a typical 8-hour day, Monday – Friday. Candidates are expected to keep the property in pristine level at all times throughout the year, regardless of the owner’s schedule.
The primary responsibilities as Executive Housekeeper will include daily hands-on cleaning of the residence, providing guest service, preparing daily meals for the homeowners and guests using fresh and quality ingredients. The primary responsibilities for the Groundskeeper will include all interior and exterior maintenance of the property, gardening (mowing, trimming, planting, etc.), and handyman duties. This position requires groundskeeper to be physically able to work outdoors in all types of weather, as well as, be able to safely operator a mower, truck and other equipment, including power and hand tools. Both candidates will also assume the role of chauffeur for home owners and guests as needed.
In addition to the above roles, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Liaison with contractors and service providers
- Manage and monitor property expenses, including preparing weekly reports for the homeowners
- Handle household expenses and administrative duties
- Run errands as needed
- Food shopping
- Vehicle maintenance
Housing consisting of an on-site, 735 sq ft studio apartment will be provided as part of the compensation package.

Pay Package and Benefits: At Hawthorn Senior Living we have a very attractive salary package for our Assistant Manager teams. The pay package is broken down into the following categories:
Salary: We offer a competitive salary starting at $60,000 to $70,000 per year to start (depending on the cost of living in the area where are placed) for our Assistant Management Team. However, each person will be paid their own individually portion of the aforementioned salary.
Accommodation: As this is a live-in position, the accommodation provided is a one bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with washer and dryer in the unit.
