WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
The Cabins at Historic Columbine was originally established as a gold mining town in the late 1800’s. We are a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places. We operate as a resort with 14 historic cabins and an authentic general store.
We are in search of a couple, or two very compatible individuals to share housekeeping, general store, food trailer, reservation office and maintenance duties for 25 to 35 hours per week starting in mid-May for year round employment or seasonal summer positions are available as well. Compensation includes housing and will start at $15.00 per hour ($13.75 per hour with a $1.25 per hour bonus paid at the end of the employment period).
Our general store is open daily with traffic from our guests as well as tourists visiting the local state parks or hiking the numerous trails in the area. Our cabins are all unique and range from a single room with no bathroom to 3 bedrooms with multiple bathrooms. We have a modern lodge with restrooms, showers, and a gaming area that includes pool, ping pong, and foosball. The property also includes a commercial kitchen that is available to rent for events and gatherings. We cut and split all of our firewood from the property and surrounding area. Beyond housekeeping and maintenance, our summer project goals include, but are not limited to: staining cabins; remodeling cabins, building an interpretive historic hiking trail; updating and expanding landscaping and vegetation around the property; and forest cleanup including felling trees and splitting wood.
The ideal candidates should enjoy living remotely in the mountainous outdoors. Housekeeping of our cabins is a significant portion of the duties and our cleaning standards are high. Attention to detail is key. Excellent guest/people skills are required, along with the ability to work with a small number of seasonal and resident staff. We are located at an elevation of 8,700 feet and duties are physically demanding. Opportunity exists to transition into a winter caretaker role.
Housing
A fully-furnished studio apartment with loft sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette, and laundry facilities is provided. Bed linens, pillows, towels and all utilities are included. Pet friendly. Damage deposit required.
In Lieu of housing, we have a RV site with full hookups available.
Getting Here and Getting Around
The Cabins are located 29 miles northwest of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We request that you have your own reliable transportation. It is a 45-minute drive to the closest major grocery store.
For Fun
North Routt County is an outdoor enthusiast paradise. Hiking, biking, fishing, standup paddleboarding, and kayaking are just a few on the opportunities in the area. We are located just minutes away from some of the most amazing parks and wilderness areas in Colorado: Steamboat Lake State Park, Pearl Lake State Park, Hahns Peak Lake, the Zirkel Wilderness, and Routt National Forest. Steamboat Lake is one of three lakes in Colorado to carry a gold medal designation for fishing. For off-roading enthusiasts, we have direct access from our property to hundreds of miles of 4x4 trails in the Routt National Forest.
Steamboat Springs is a quaint ski town with great restaurants and interesting shops. There are weekly rodeos, local festivals, free concerts, farmers markets, and many other events throughout the summer.

Farm Caretaker Couple - Franklin, NC

Position Summary:
This 100 acre family retreat, is home to a variety of specialty breeds of animals, small gardens, orchards and wildlife. A little bit of everything and a lot of love, located in rural Franklin, NC. We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Farm Caretaker couple to live in the provided on-property housing to provide full-time, year round, care for the animals and property. This role requires a motivated couple (or individual) who is passionate about agriculture, animal husbandry, the environment, and property maintenance. This couple will work closely with the Owner to ensure the smooth operation of the farm, including crop management, pet and livestock care, short term rental management, equipment maintenance and overall property upkeep.
Key Responsibilities:
- Farm Operations:
- Daily animal and livestock care (7 days per week).
- Monitor and care for livestock, including feeding, watering, grooming, health checks and maintenance of living environments.
- Assist in daily farm operations, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, and harvesting select crops.
- Assist with soil preparation, planting schedules, and pest management.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- Property Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance on farm buildings, fences, and other structures.
- Perform and oversee landscaping tasks, including mowing, trimming, weed eating, and general grounds keeping.
- Maintain roads and trails, including but not limited to erosion control and fallen trees and branches.
- Ensure proper functioning of irrigation systems and manage ponds and water resources efficiently.
- Conduct regular inspections of the property and structures to identify and address any repair and maintenance needs
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including planting plans and dates, supplement and fertilizer applications, pest control, livestock health, vaccinations and equipment usage and maintenance logs
- Assist in inventory management of supplies, feed, tools, equipment, and other necessary materials.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Property Owner including photo documentation and video calls as necessary.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Property Owner to implement farming strategies and property management plans
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of seasonal workers or other farm staff as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to decision making processes.
- Communicate with renters and/or neighbors in a polite and professional manner, keeping the Owner aware of any issues that might arise.
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure all farming and property maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Promote a safe working environment by following best practices and encouraging safe behavior among staff.
- Ensure that guests and tenants remain safe when on the property and engaging the livestock and other animals on the property.
- Minimize the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides at all times and ensure that applications follow all regulations.

- General property management for rental home on property, including communication with tenants, cleaning, and scheduling services
- Prepare lodging and stay for Owner as necessary prior to and after arrival.

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience relevant to Agriculture, Farm management, Property management, and/or Veterinary practice

- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
- Qualified and comfortable using a variety of power tools including a chainsaw and weed eater.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keeps off-site manager / owner up to date on monthly reports and unusual activity.
- Manages a septic system
- Collects rent & other charges due and issues receipts and dose necessary banking including making deposits at the bank.
- Issues late rent notices, and other notices to enforce rules and regulations.
- Maintains resident files and archives records as required by law and park policies.
- Shows prospective residents’ property and explains occupancy terms.
- Run credit checks on prospects residents,
- Rents or leases lots, collects security deposit as required, and completes all forms outlining conditions and terms of occupancy if lease required.
- Informs prospective tenants of availability of nearby schools, shopping malls, recreational facilities, and public transportation.
- Investigates tenant complaints about malfunctions of utilities or furnished household appliances or goods and inspects vacated apartments to determine needed repairs or maintenance.
- Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance staff engaged in repairing plumbing or electrical malfunctions, painting common area buildings, and performing landscaping or gardening work, or arranges for outside personnel to perform maintenance.
- Resolves tenant complaints concerning other tenants, visitors, and issues in regards to the community.
- Arranges for other services such as trash collection, extermination, etc.
- Cleans public areas of building.
- Arranges for alterations to, or maintenance, upkeep, or reconditioning of property as specified in management services or lessee's agreement.
- Employs, or contracts for services of, security, maintenance, and groundskeeping personnel and onsite management personnel if required.
- Purchases supplies and equipment for use on leased properties.
- Prepares reports on collection, sales of homes, deposits, & petty cash on a monthly basis.
- Prepares periodic inventory of building contents and property condition, and forwards listing to owner for review.
- Contacts utility companies to arrange for transfer of service for tenants when necessary.
- Assists with eviction of tenants in compliance with court order and directions from Lawyer and owner.
