Our Campground is located near Deadwood South Dakota, in the beautiful Northern Black Hills. It is a small, scenic, friendly park on Bear Butte Creek, with 11 RV sites, 8 sleeping cabins, and 2 rental RVs.
We are looking for a couple to work from mid-May to mid-September, 2017 in exchange for a FHU 30/50 amp site with a concrete pad. No pay is provided; however you will have free use of the facilities including a laundry room and a lounge with satellite TV. As a couple, you would work together: three days on, and three days off, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful Black Hills, and there is so much to see and do! In addition, we are located near lots of ATV trails as well as nearby rentals.
Duties include excellent customer service: greeting and checking-in guests and taking reservations (computer skills required), providing area information, as well as park maintenance: lawn care, cabin and restroom cleaning, and any other projects that may need to be done. The cabins are easy and quick to clean—as they are small and do not have bedding. But the job does require you to be physically fit. Non-smokers are greatly appreciated, as our office and cabins are non-smoking. Prefer someone with electrical and mechanical knowledge.

Sous Chef
Position Purpose: The Sous Chef supports the overall food-service operation of the camp including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, and sanitation. Will also assist in food planning and ordering. May also assist in houskeeping or other needs of camp opperations.
Qualifications: ? Minimum 21 years of age. ? Minimum 2 years as a kitchen manager, director, and or head Cook ? Serve Safe certifications: o Food handlers card o Food Manager Training ? Experience as a baker of cookies, breads, muffins and cakes from scratch is a plus, but not a requirement ? Knowledge of federal, state and local laws/codes concerning food service operations ? Strong organization skills and willingness to work as a team member ? Ability to interact with all age levels, youth and adults in a positive manner ? Experience in institutional or large food service setting ? Knowledge of and experience in food service: ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family-style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment ? Essential Job Functions: 1. Assist the Head Chef direct the daily operations of the camp food and dining services including coordinating activities between the kitchen, dining room and outside eating. - Help with the planning and preparation of camp meals, snacks and pack-out food when needed. - Ensure the service of camp meals through directing the work of other employees and volunteer staff. - Coordinate menu planning for user groups as directed. - Ability to prepare special dietary foods. - Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of camp meals.
2. Help with the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the camp kitchen, its equipment, and facilities. - Maintain inventory of food and household supplies. - Assist with ordering/purchasing food and kitchen supplies consistent with menus and enrollment counts. - Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety. - Clean and maintain all food-service areas, including kitchen, dining room, storage, kitchen recycling. - Inspect equipment and ensure equipment is repaired as necessary. - Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible.
Physical Aspects of the Job: - Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. - Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. - Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities and camper and staff behavior. - Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more). - Ability to safely and properly use kitchen equipment. - Ability to provide first aid and to assist campers and staff in an emergency. - Potential for working irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities.
Maintenance Supervisor
Position Purpose: The Maintenance Supervisor supports the overall operation of the camp including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on grounds and facilities. Will also assist in retooling and rehabing of camp as needed. May also assist in houskeeping or other needs of camp opperations.
Qualifications: ? Minimum 21 years of age. ? Minimum 2 years as a maintenace worker, director, and or technician of somekind ? Experience with small engines and equipment repair a plus, but not a requirement ? Knowledge of federal, state and local laws/codes concerning safe operations of facilities and equipment ? Strong organization skills and willingness to work as a team member ? Ability to interact with all age levels, youth and adults in a positive manner ? Knowledge of and experience in grounds keeping and/or general property upkeep: ordering and sourcing unique parts, scheduled maintenance of grounds, gravel road care, simple electrical work, simple plumbing upkeep and repairs, general repairs ? Ability to work with a budget and purchase supplies efficiently ? Desire to live and work in a camp community – Self Starter and organizer ? Some experience in supervision helpful ? Assist the Camp Director in the daily operations of the camp sheduled and unscheduled maintenance. - Help with the planning and executing grounds upkeep. - Ensure all buildings and facilites stay in working order. - Provide emergency services to camp for repairs and fixes to broken or damaged items, i.e. water leak, ballast out, equipment/tool repair, etc. - Ability to accept janitorial duties. - Ability to work with small-medium sized farm and property equipment (riding lawn mower, gator, small tractor). - Ensure safe and efficient repairs and maintenance, especially when working around campers and guests. ! 1
