We are looking for summer Work Campers! - Loudonville, OH
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We are seeking a friendly, dependable couple with own RV for summer season, to assist with all parts of museum operations, including groundskeeping, light maintenance, tour guiding, event help, and opening visitor center.
We are an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit located in Mohican State Park, approx 3 miles south of Loudonville, Ohio, on State Route 3. We have restored and currently operate an 1800's water-powered grist mill as a museum for the public, with several restored 1800's log cabins, hiking trails, and other outdoors activities.
The mill and cabins are located on 50 acres of Ohio State Park property. The non-profit also privately owns 5 acres located directly adjacent to the park, which houses our event area, weekend volunteer house, and equipment barn. We have several large full hookup RV sites near the volunteer house located on the 5-acre property where our Workampers will be staying.
Our normal season runs from Memorial Day through our Oktoberfest at the end of September. Hours and days off are negotiable, but we would be looking for at least 20 hours a week from each Workamper in exchange for a full hookup site. No paid hours are available. Area is usually fairly quiet during the week, with a large influx of campers on the weekends.
Our group puts on several large events and many smaller events through the summer, starting with Wildlife Weekend at the end of April when Jack Hanna's Animals come to the Mill, then our large Winefest fundraiser in June, Colonial Trade Fair in August, and our biggest event of the year, Oktoberfest at the end of September.
Time off offers hiking, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, zip lining, mountain biking, and many other outdoor activities in the State Park and surrounding area. The mill is connected to downtown Loudonville via a bike path that goes directly through the property. Loudonville is also close to Amish country, for craft and antique enthusiasts. The mill is also a little more than an hour's drive from Columbus, Ohio, with cultural activities, restaurants, sporting events, etc. Well-behaved pets are welcome on the property.
