Set amidst the Bordeaux vineyards, we're one the region's top rated B&Bs, welcoming up to 12 people. The property has the amenities of a boutique hotel, but we aim for the relaxed and personal style of a friendly guesthouse. Now operating for 8 years, we've built a great reputation for our warm hospitality and idyllic setting. Our clientele is predominantly english speaking, from a range of nationalities, with a smaller percentage of french speaking guests.
About The Role
At present the property is operated by the owners, with a small team of employees helping with guests and cleaning. We are now looking for a couple to take over as on-site manager/s of the business for the peak season starting around 1 August 2018 through to mid-October 2018, with the possibility of progressing to the full time house managers for an entire season in 2019 (Apr-Nov). You will receive intensive initial training from the owners and intermittent support throughout, plus have the support of the small team for some help with cleaning and guests, but whoever takes on this role (whether it's a couple or individual) will ultimately be responsible for the entire operation (more detail on principal duties is given below). This can be a demanding role, but each day has a good degree of flexibility and both the team and our guests all enjoy some fun along the way. Likewise, while we strive for a relaxed feel for guests, this is very much a professional role that requires a wide mix of talents and disciplines. In return, in addition to comprehensive training and potentially career building experience, we offer on-site accommodation in your own private room with a private sitting area, as well as access to the entire house and property, and a remuneration package dependent on the level of involvement desired by the right candidate (if you're prepared to do a bit more cleaning and property maintenance, the remuneration would be higher) and at least in part, based on your performance. As mentioned above, this role has a very varied input into the business,but primary duties cover the full spectrum of an accommodation business, from handling enquiries and bookings to maximise occupancy, welcoming and hosting guests, including for evening meals (we have a chef for most cooking), overseeing staff, stocks of provisions, and linen, and managing our marketing and social media. Less frequent, but also important, will be occasional grounds and property maintenance, resolution of any problems, and some cleaning and food preparation.
About You
To succeed in this role you will need to be confident and feel at ease meeting and hosting new people, promoting our business and the local area, thinking on your feet, dealing with a wide range of demands, issues and variable working hours, and at least reasonable skills in property maintenance. Though not strictly necessary, experience in hospitality and leadership will be a bonus, and given we are located in one of the world's most famous wine regions, an interest in the industry would also be a plus. As most of our guests are english speaking, highly fluent english is a must, and more than a basic level of french will be an advantage. Further, we are located in the countryside, so a car and driving licence is critical, as is a valid right to work in France.

Caretaker Couple Needed - Carmarthen, Wales, UK

The property is part of a charity and consists of 80 acres with the majority of the acreage designated to sheep grazing under a private contract.
The rest of the property has a lake, 1 mile of river, campsite and airbnb cottages.
Ideally one of the couple is experienced in construction and is able to head up new projects on the property and that one of the couple is well versed in administration.
As this is a business operation we require excellent computer skills with the ability to understand finances, invoices, accounts payable and spreadsheets.
You will also be responsible for the management of volunteers that come to the property from workaway or helpx.
This is more than a job, its an opportunity to help make a difference with our charity whilst working in an amazing location in Wales.
A 1 bedroom Cottage is provided with all utilities plus £1500/month shared between the couple.

What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for a competent, energetic, advanced communicator and leader to join our team as a Field Operations Specialist. This Jack or Jill of all trades will be responsible for running the home care team for a portfolio of homes - acting as a direct extension of the owners, and keeping them in the loop with all aspects of the management of their homes. The home care team is comprised of a team of housekeepers and maintenance technicians. A day in the life might include: reviewing maintenance needed at homes, owner communications, cleaning inspections, stocking a new home and staging it for its first guest, helping a guest figure out how to light a gas fireplace over the phone, walking an owner through their monthly statement, completing routine maintenance repairs such as changing a light bulb or replacing a broken door latch, dispatching non routine repairs, and helping a housekeeper finish a particularly challenging clean before guests arrive - remember when we said, "Jack or Jill of all trades?"
What You’ll Do:
- Housing is provided at Bogus Basin (living on site is required).
- This position will require you to be cool under pressure, and balance challenging priorities on a regular basis.
- We are a vacation company and we will be the busiest when most folks are taking vacations-ie weekends, spring break, summer, etc. We’ll need you to be available.
- This is not a 9-5 job, you will be called upon after normal business hours and on weekends, and flexibility is key. You are the boots on the ground when our guests or owners need assistance.
- Maintaining an efficient and high quality housekeeping team will be your top priority!
- Traveling between multiple worksites and balancing competing priorities each day is a primary function of this role.
- Must being willing to use personal vehicle and maintenance related tools.
- Professional and frequent communications with the owners of the homes in your portfolio.
- Being willing/able to perform light home maintenance (light bulbs, fix door hinges, unclog a toilet, etc)
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
The Skills You’ll Need:
- Communicator: proactively communicate with your owners via email, phone and in person to ensure that they are in the loop with all aspects of the management of their home. Ability to “sell” an owner on necessary improvements and help them understand how that impacts their revenue.
- Problem Solver: We always seek to head problems off at the pass, but chaos theory prevails and we can't pre-solve for everything. When something doesn't go according to plan, you will need to go into action and work with teams across to turn problems into opportunities.
- Can do/will do attitude: you will be part of an on-call rotation, and guest needs aren't always confined to normal business hours. A willingness to help when needed is essential.
- Natural born leader: as a Field Operations Specialist, you will have a small team of housekeepers. Your ability to lead the team in a collective and positive way is essential.
- Computer Savvy: Our custom developed management software has set apart as an industry leader. We use our system to manage all aspects of our business. While we will never ask you to do any coding, we will want you to be very comfortable using a computer. If you commonly find yourself saying, "I bet I can get on youtube and figure out how to do that.", you'll be just fine.
- Highly Organized: This position requires balancing competing priorities on a day to day and minute by minute basis. We are dedicated to providing the best tools possible to manage the workload, but there is a critical human piece that you will provide. Only you can know how your owners like to be communicated with, which homes need extra attention and you are the one that can put eyes on a home when guests are having issues. We rely on you to balance those priorities and kick into action with your organization skills to manage the workload.
- A bit of a maintenance mind - as an extension of your owners, you will need to be able to troubleshoot issues that come up in your homes and either repair them (if minor) or make recommendations to your owners.
