We are seeking outstanding Maintenance Worker.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform journey level work in painting, finishing and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures.
Responsible for maintenance of guest rooms, public and back-of-the House areas, in accordance with procedures set forth by the Benbow Historic Inn.
Maintains good communication with other departments.
The painter prepares surfaces for painting and finishing; applies undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials; mixes and matches paints and finishes; advises in the selection and storage of painting materials.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To ensure the Maintenance Department operates according to the policies and Procedures set forth by the Benbow Historic Inn.
Responsible for the day-to-day operation in areas related to the painter Department in conjunction with the Facilities Manager.
Prepares primes, sands, seals, patches and paints furniture, surfaces, buildings and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, water-proofing and heat resistant finishes.
Tapes, flushes, repairs and applies texturing, wallpaper and acoustic layers on a variety of surfaces. Adjusts colors when necessary; utilizes enhanced finishing skills when appropriate.
Removes fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps and electric switch covers prior to painting.
Graffiti removal from the interior and exterior of buildings.
Inspects jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
Estimates time and materials required; keeps records and submits reports of work performed.
Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
Reads work orders and/or receives instructions from supervisor in order to determine work requirements.
Offers assistance and advice on materials, designs and color.
Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers and electro-nic sprayers, pumps, etc. Safely stores and labels all materials.
Keep open communication with the facilities Manager and, Front Office Manager, and Maintenance supervisor.
Responsible to maintain maintenance shop, Basement, Boiler room area clean and neat, organized, secure conditions.
Offers guest assistance. When a guest asks for assistance, either provide the assistance immediately or immediately contact someone who can, and follow up to ensure the guest's needs is met.
Perform repairs listed on work orders and maintains the work orders as a record of work completed.
Tracks and records repairs. Makes repairs in a timely and professional manner.
Maintains cleanliness of storage shed, basement and maintenance office.
Notifies Manager when major repairs are needed.
Be familiar with all operating equipment.
Paint ceiling, walls, door frames, and floors within the facility.
Heavy labor including trenching, moving furniture, digging and heavy lifting.
Repair light fixtures, tile repair, electrical repair, plumbing repair, etc. as needed.
Perform carpentry.
Ability to repair simple plumbing issues with buildings and/or irrigation.
Mow lawns, trim trees & brush.
Set up, take down or move tables and chairs as needed for events.
Assist in shipping & receiving.
Ensure that work is performed in compliance with safety procedures to protect the health and welfare of the Guest and staff.
Assist in repairing, installing, and constructing tables, shelves, cabinets, countertops and other wood fixtures; operate hand-held power tools in the process.
Ensures fire safety equipment (fire alarm system, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, etc.) are operational and that inspections are current, and forward inspection reports to Facilities Manager.
Ensures that all maintenance tools are in good working condition and stored neatly and securely in the maintenance room.
Performs other tasks as needed (including lifting and storing items, cleaning, etc.).
Additional Duties:
Perform duties as required by the Facilities Manager. Duties may change to ensure Maintenance Department runs optimally for guest comfort. See check list for additional duties.

Must be flexible with days off as they will be required to look after the pets and home security in the family’s absence. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the building and its contents; features include 5 en-suite bedrooms, 2.5 acres of garden, indoor pool complex with gym. In addition, 2 local small tenanted properties are also owned by the family, you will be responsible for liaising with the tenants and carrying out repairs. A gardener is currently employed by the family, the gardener will provide instructions regarding weekly garden maintenance duties for each property. Accommodation for the candidates is a self-contained fully furnished one-bedroom apartment, which includes an office/dining room, living room, kitchen and bathroom. All utility bills are paid for. This is a hands-on position requiring a high standard of cleaning, laundry, ironing, shopping, gardening, general property maintenance, household security, driving duties and pet care. We are looking for an experienced Assistant -Management Couple to live on –site with at least 4-5 years of experience in an off-grid Resort/ Lodge environment. Candidates must be able to work long hours and live in a remote location. This position is not suitable for a couple with children or wanting to start a family in the very near future due to the remote location of the lodge and the irregular working hours. Unfortunately pets are not permitted
Ideally one of the couple will have experience in F&B management - superivising our kitchen and 60 seater restaurant – very good knowledge of all aspects of inventory and stock control, supervising the POS, staff management and staff scheduling experience will be advantageous. Good guest relations and supervision in the restaurant during meal times in a host/ess role in this vital area of our lodge is very important. The ability to work hand in hand with our two chefs and motivate full utilization of the products from our organic farm will be very advantageous.
The other position would be a guest manager / front of house role and requires a person with good co-ordination skills, able to multi-task and assist the general managers in all aspects of the lodge operations and management particularly relating to guests activities/ tours and guest service. The position would involve, but not be limited to handling the reservations/communications with guest enquiries on e-mail, receiving of guests, assisting with the general operations and systems of the lodge, overseeing the housekeeping and maintenance teams when needed. Knowledge of Quickbooks is ideal.
The roles described are general and the duties can be filled by either candidate of the couple.
Any additional skills – i.e yoga instruction, spa or massage of either applicant would be an enormous advantage.
Both candidates must be completely fluent in English –both written and spoken. Spanish is advantageous. A DEEP-ROOTED PASSION FOR SERVICE EXCELLENCE IS ESSENTIAL. An interest in nature and sustainable practices is also advantageous.
