FEATURED JOB OPENING: Summer Caretaker(s) - Bristol Bay Area, AK
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Lodge Caretaker Position
2019 Job Description / Requirements
This is a position that will allow individuals to experience Alaska as only few are able to. This position, while as important as any at the Lodge, is not a glory position. It does allow individuals to learn about all phases of the Lodge and its operations. Our caretakers are the backbone of GHL's security and operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Friendly, good communication skills, organized, responsible, sound work ethics, service oriented and self-motivated.
• Healthy, physically fit, neat and clean appearance, drug-free and non-smoker. (Note: Pre-hire drug test screening will be a requirement).
• Required work dates are as follows: Summer season: Approximately early June through late September
PRIMARY DUTIES: Duties of the position include but not limited to the following:
• Provide an on-site presence at all times to assist lodge users with a positive experience
• Cleaning and janitorial duties are very important as a primary duty to this positions(s). There will be facility / laundry cleaning and preparation required to prepare to present a clean facility to new incoming guests during the short time-frame window on 'change-out' days;
• Burning garbage and consolidating non-burnable garbage so it can be flown out;
• Grounds maintenance, cutting back alders, mowing, etc.;
• Transferring fuel, monitoring storage tank fuel levels;
• Meeting floatplanes at docks, loading / unloading of float planes;
• Maintenance / repairs on Lodge buildings and equipment;
• Weekly reporting on all activity to the Lodge manager.
PAY: TBD / DEO
RESPONSIBILITIES: We require our employees to present themselves in a professional manner at all times.
DISCRETIONARY PERFORMANCE BONUS ELIGIBILITY: A discretionary performance bonus may be available during the summer months, based on Lodge manager and owner group assessment of the caretakers overall attitude and work performance.
ROOM & BOARD: Included. (This does not include personal items, toiletries, medicines, etc.)
TRANSPORTATION: Our employees are required to pay their own transportation to and from Anchorage, Alaska. We pay for transportation from Anchorage to and from the Lodge.
ACCOMMODATIONS: While at the lodge, the caretaker(s) will be housed in the Caretaker's cabin. Bedding and towels are provided.
AMENITIES: Satellite TV, Internet access, and 100 minutes of long-distance calling minutes each month. There is a satellite phone for emergencies.
TIPS: Our guests stay from anywhere from 3-7 days. The lodge is used as a private facility and guests do not pay for their experience. Some of the various group leaders will tip caretakers, depending on how they feel about the quality of the service and support. Tips may be available as potential supplemental income, but are not guaranteed.
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: Actual caretaker work dates will be approximately early June, 2019 through late September 2019. Caretaker(s) may potentially not have the option to leave The Lodge except for a serious emergency. In the event of an emergency, The Owner group or its Manager or any related parties will make all reasonable efforts to safely accommodate The Caretaker(s), depending on the nature of the emergency. The Lodge Manager must approve any additional planned multi-day leave from the Lodge by the Caretaker(s) during this agreement period.
ATTITUDE: The summer months are generally busy with work crews on site during the month of May and June to address major construction projects, then as the summer progresses, things are busy with the Lodge owners arriving and departing with their respective groups. It is important that our Caretaker personnel enjoy interacting with people and act as gracious hosts to share the facility with our visitors. Caretaker is expected to be available, however, they need to be self-reliant and self-entertained, to allow our guests to enjoy the facility and other guests without the caretaker present. Our personnel are required to have a positive and helpful attitude and be courteous at all times.
