Want to live in the woods and play with animals????? - Terrell, TX
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
REQUIREMENTS: MUST LOVE CATS!! There is really not an appropriate category for this listing. We are looking for a team. That can be a couple, siblings, best friends, whatever. They must be drama free, drug free, non-drinkers. They must be versatile and enjoy working outside. (Keeping in mind that outside in Texas can be 110 degrees in the summer an 10 degrees in the winter). If you’re still reading this, you just MAY be the right person.
We are located just 1-hour east of Dallas Texas, are seeking a qualified couple for animal care and ranch maintenance/construction. We are the only wildlife Center in North Texas and are, therefore, incredibly busy. This position can be for 1 year, or permanent for the right people. Our busy season (June-September) may require 10-12 hour days. Our slow season offers time to escape for a few days here and there to explore Austin & the Hill country, one of the many lakes in the state, or even a run to Galveston, Corpus Christi or South Padre Island. But while you’re here, it’s pretty much all work and no play. We are a fast paced all-volunteer center that rescues over 5000 wild mammals annually. We are also the largest Bobcat Rescue in the world. We can have as many as 1000 animals on site at any given time. We are also a working ranch with horses, goats & chickens. With all this going on, we are constantly growing and changing. The appropriate team would be able to assist the volunteer, staff, intern team, and each other, with daily animal care, ranch maintenance, clean up, organization, construction of new projects, repairing existing enclosures, landscaping, fundraising, education outreach, and ranch operations. So what do you get in return? The main thing is the joy of working with wild animals and the education that goes along with it. You will have your own rent free private cabin on the ranch with a bathroom, shower, TV, kitchen, all the comforts of home! All bills are paid. You will be allowed to work side jobs in the off season, but during the busy season, there is no time. You will enjoy all of the joys of ranch life & country living, including horseback riding, fishing, bonfires, long walks down country roads, and QUIET TIME! Additionally, there is a small stipend for essentials of $100 each per month. This is definitely NOT the job for everyone. You must LOVE animals, enjoy working, be a team player, have a good attitude, and at least one of you must have construction/carpentry skills. Wildlife experience is NOT required. We will train you. Minimum requirement is ONE YEAR. There is a 90 day probationary period where either either of us may break the contract. After that, we expect you to complete the rest of the year.
THE RULE: NO DRINKING, NO DRUGS, NO DRAMA. NO overnight guests. No friends “Hanging out”. We’re pretty laid back, but this is still a business and we are HIGHLY protective of the animals in our care. But there are plenty of places to meet friends and hang out in any number of small towns around here. If you’re interested, send us a video about you. We hope to find someone from out of state or even out of the country so that this can be a true adventure for the right couple. In the video, introduce yourselves and tell us all about you. Show us your personality, and share things you like, don’t like, whatever you think will help us get to know you. We’ll look forward to meeting you soon!
