FEATURED JOB OPENING: Resort Couple on the Gunflint Trail, on the edge of the BWCA Wilderness - Grand Marais, MN
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Bearskin Lodge on the Gunflint Trail is a beautiful, high-end wilderness resort on the edge of the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. We are 26 miles from the nearest small town, surrounded by the Superior National Forest and BWCA. Your home will be a small cabin on shore of East Bearskin Lake, entry point #64. You'll see moose, bears, foxes and other wildlife on a regular basis. Hiking, canoeing, fishing, boating and in the winter, cross-country skiing are right outside your door.
Our Resort Couple job (couple = any two people who will share the house and fill the jobs) has introduced so many outstanding couples into our Grand Marais community. Both people in the couple will need to learn every job on the resort, but usually one person does more outside grounds-keeping tasks and maintenance, and the other excels at housekeeping and guest services. There are 7-9 other employees, but we expect the Resort Couple to be a model for employee excellence for everyone and to demontrate leadership and a positive attitude.
Full-time, all year employment, or long-seasonal options. Benefits if employees become permanent. We're looking for responsible, independent, self-starters with integrity, good guest interaction skills, a healthy lifestyle, and a good work ethic. Non- smoking housing, drug-free. This is for people who live healthy. In return, you get the opportunity to live in a lakeside house or apartment on the edge of the BWCA Wilderness, a living situation that's hard to come by. We pay an hourly wage starting at $15 -17+, give regular raises and frequent bonuses based on performance and longevity, provide regular work hours (ending by 6 PM), and pay overtime for more than 40 hours.
All jobs at Bearskin are physically very, very active. There is often a great deal of moving and lifting, so applicants need to enjoy a good workout as part of their daily job. Most of our employees are in the 22-45 age range and are avid hikers, bikers, runners, and skiers. All jobs at Bearskin require a driver's license. Dogs by "interview" only. They have to pass strict criteria, just like an employee! Our employees frequently have cats, bunnies, birds, or fish, no questions asked.
The gaps we need to fill right now are for an indoor/outdoor person to help keep the resort running smoothly and cleanly; a great front desk person who is the show-runner for the entire resort on a busy day; and an an extremely detailed-oriented cleaner with a critical eye for spotting imperfections. On Saturday and Sunday in the summer, we all clean (even our owners) and it's actually semi-fun working together to get it done fast. But if you don't want to ever clean, then resort work is not for you.
We also support artists and photographers in their work, and allow you to sell appropriate items in our gift shop with no commission.
