Seeking Couple to Volunteer For a Piece of Heaven In Paradise - Hawaii, HI

Join us in paradise where the food literally falls off the trees.

We are seeking a very hard-working mature or retired couple with a VERY GREEN THUMB.

This is a two person opportunity, so between the two of you, you must have experience in landscaping, gardening, orchids and tree planting, vegetable growing, lawn mowing, weed wacking, construction, handyman/woman work, housekeeping and guest services. Plumbing experience is also a big plus!

You will be taking care of our home and the land on the Big Island of Hawaii of a beautiful twenty-seven acre property with Hawaii's only lava heated steam vents and a B&B Inn, on the Hilo side of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Also prefer music lovers who will be able to administer small private events and concerts.

Also must be friendly, very reliable, dependable, honest, resourceful, self-starters with great hearts.

MUST BE in good health. There is no smoking, alcohol or drugs allowed on the land. No DRINKERS or SMOKERS including cigarettes, Natural Spirit, cigars or tobacco.

We prefer you to have an interest in alternative medicine and holistic health.

This is a live/work trade opportunity so there is no stipend but there is an awesome revenue sharing opportunity for entrepreneur-minded folks. How successful you will be will depend on your productivity and resourcefulness. Prefer couple to have their own independent form of income as well.

You will have rent-free living quarters on a beautiful estate in exchange for your work. You will have a choice to live in a rustic cabin living space or a room in our house.

Prefer people who are compassionate about animals. No dogs or cats are allowed in the main house because it a place we have guests visit, but it is OK to have pets live on the land and/or with you in the rustic cabin, so please keep this in mind if you have dogs or cats.

Also please be aware if you plan on bringing your dogs or cats from the mainland, there is a mandatory Hawaii government quarantine for three months, so please keep that in mind. This is not something many people would want to put their pets through, so please do your research before inquiring with us.
All Pets that do come to the land must be disciplined.

Must be available by June but if you would like to start sooner, that would be fine too.
There will be a 3 month trial period.

Who We Are: Better in Belize Eco-Community is a 133-acre Eco-Community in the English-speaking country of Belize, Central America. Better in Belize is located in the foothills of the Mayan Mountains in the District of Cayo in Western Belize, near the town of San Ignacio (population 22,000). Our infra-structure includes water supply that is harvested by rainwater catchment (very common in Belize), solar energy (with back-up generators) and septic systems. Our eco-community is forming – with about 50% of our lots sold to Americans, Canadians and a handful of Europeans. Potential purchasers visit our eco-community to determine the viability of ownership. When they visit, they often overnight in our on-site accommodation. Better in Belize is comprised of a Welcome Centre, 5-bedroom Eco-Lodge, 4 miles of maintained roads, waterfront activities (boating, canoeing, kayaking), ridge view community lookout, community gardens and common areas. There are several homes that have been built by Owners and others in construction progress. General Scope of Position:

Manage natural resources of our Belize eco-community. Oversee upkeep/planting/harvesting of our 3.3-acre organically minded community gardens – which are tended by on-site gardeners. An interest and knowledge of permaculture would be a bonus.
Continue system for regular maintenance and upkeep of Welcome Centre, 5-bedroom Eco-Lodge, and grounds.
Oversee cleaning of rooms in Eco-Lodge.
General building maintenance including small plumbing repairs and general carpentry.
Take visitors on tours of our community including trips to the local waterfalls.
Overall site clean-up and site security.
