House Parents for Christian Children's Home - Pensacola, FL

Ministry is looking for mature house parent couples (married husband and wife), that identify with our core values and adopt our mission as their own. We are looking for high energy, responsible, flexible, nonjudgmental couples. We need a couple that is capable of utilizing a nurturing and loving approach to provide boundaries and structure with the children affected by trauma. The house parents play a key role in our holistic philosophy of care by using a professional, team-oriented, and trauma informed approach in the care of our children. This couples' calm and controlled demeanor is key for this job. Our challenge as a team is to minister to the "whole" child; spiritual, physical, intellectual, creative, emotional, and social. This is a full-time position that includes a modest salary, full room and board, and a vehicle to drive. You will be serving children affected by trauma that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or rejected. Together, you and your spouse can make a difference and change the life of a child. You will live on a rural farm with a close knit team of families working together to rebuild the lives of children who desperately need healing.
Requirements
• all applicants must be over 21
• high school diploma or GED
• all applicants must pass background screening, drug testing
• all applicants must have a current driver’s license, and maintain an excellent driving record and be able to drive safely, day or night
• ability to care for up to 12 children
• minimum 2 year commitment
• must be servant hearted and willing to help in areas including, but not limited to: transportation, cooking, cleaning, schoolwork, laundry, direct child care, and our farm and thrift store business
• house cleaning - have home tour ready
• we encourage our staff to raise prayer support and additional financial support
• attend church services with children
• participate in community outreach services with children
• interact with all children in our care and all staff at all times with appropriate voice tone, level, and pitch, language used and gestures and physical movement
• prefer parents with no minor children
• good communication skills, integrity, humility, flexibility, and teachability are
necessary
• maintain a home environment that models healthy Christian family living, and is
joyful, relaxing and peaceful within the structure of the schedule of the home

POSITION SUMMARY & OBJECTIVES:
Glenwood Academy is seeking married couples to positively impact the lives of diverse children as live-in House Parents. The Houseparent position is responsible for providing a safe and a home like environment on our campus, within the general policies and guidelines of the Agency for the students entrusted in their care. Use of effective verbal and written communication with staff, students and families. Frequent use of computer. Maintains flexibility to adjust work schedule according to Agency needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Daily care and supervision of students entrusted in their care.
- Attend to student’s health, nutrition and rights while in their care.
- Maintain a professional and nurturing relationship with student, parents/guardians, and staff.
- Work as part of a team to ensure high standard of care.
- Participates in team meetings and uses other meetings to accomplish the objectives the agency has for students and families.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisor.
- Monitor safety, health conditions in assigned cottage.
- Maintain cottage integrity.
- Plan and implementation of recreation, social activities, and special events for students.
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff in a culturally diverse environment.
- Reinforce positive social and behavioral skills, through everyday encounters.
- Active communication with internal and external team members.
- Complete all necessary reports, forms, and documentation accurately and timely.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement in all aspects of the position.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach positive social behavioral and educational skills, through everyday encounters and family meetings and by setting goals and charting progress.
- Promote and maintain discipline at all times.
- Maintains flexibility to adjust work schedule according to Agency needs
- Participate in agency seminars and in-service programs as designated by administration.
- Ensure that health and safety procedures are observed.
- Attend regular statutory training as well as role-specific training.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Married couple for a minimum three years
- Minimum education level is a high school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with children and youth.
- Valid IL Driver’s License with no suspensions in effect within the previous three years of hire.
- Must have personal vehicle or access to one and provide proof of automobile liability insurance.
- No history of child abuse or neglect.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate Degree in human service field (i.e. Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, etc.).
- Previous work experience in a residential/boarding environment working with children ages 7-18.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Residential (Cottage) Environment. Houseparent live and work with the students in their care. Workday can be long, fast paced, and challenging. Houseparents must have a high stress tolerance. Moderate Noise. Workday is a split shift, working early morning and returning to work late afternoon when students return after school dismissal. Position may require off site travel and attendance at outside events on days and times outside of the normal workweek schedule. Houseparent’s workweek begins Sunday evenings; ending Friday evenings.

BOH Responsibilities:

- Consistently check and maintain the proper storage of product and portion to ensure quality product.
- Maintain clean work area, equipment, storage and refrigeration areas. Involves bending, kneeling, and stretching to reach all areas in order to comply with health department regulations for sanitation and storage.
- Complete preparation of food items for production based on expected volume or as directed.
- Receive inventory and store food. This includes having the ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move or push, goods weighing a maximum of 60 lbs.
- Follow recipes for production of banquet and group meals as well as individual orders employing necessary reading and math skills.
- Follow all food handling and safety guidelines.
- Maintain food handling certifications as required.
FOH Responsibilities:
- Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance.
- Recognize and greet guests with a smile and provide sincere hospitality.
- Communicate effectively with the guest, kitchen staff and fellow service staff.
- Thoroughly understand the food and drink menus, including ingredients, preparation method, preparation time, portion size, garnish and plating procedures to ensure that orders are properly prepared and presented when served.
- Be detail focused and ensure accurate order taking, point of sale entry and transaction settlement.
- Promote specials and suggest items which enhance the guest experience.
- Consistently deliver the steps of service through effective organization, preparation and timing.

Caretakers - Maintenance Couple - Greenville, SC

We are looking for a responsible competent couple that would live on our property. We can offer as full compensation, a new one bedroom, self contained apartment (2nd floor) with utilities. Non smokers, pet allowed, even space for a horse ! You would have time to take on a full time job if you want/need. There are lots of job opportunities in the area. This would be about 40 to 50 hours a month between a couple, with flexible hours, and lots of time off.. We travel extensively and while we are away we need confidence that our home and rental properties are being well looked after.
We are located on 8 acres in the country near Landrum, less than an hour from both Greenville SC and Asheville NC. General maintenance skills including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, trouble shooting and diagnosis would be a great advantage. Help with jobs around our property including cleaning, yard maintenance, construction projects etc, and look after our cat & dog while we are away -they just need food and lot of love.
We have seven well maintained rental properties with long term leases. I am glad to say we can go long periods without any call outs.We have some specialist we use for HVAC, etc but do as much work ourselves to minimize costs. And can I also say “an interest in old car maintenance would put you at the top of my list”. Position available July 2019. Long term.
