Our goal is to increase the occupancy and heighten community involvement. Position involves all aspects of the daily operation of the community. We have a clubhouse, laundry, showers, well and lagoon septic system to maintain. In addition to the office work of rental payments, applications, events and general office duties, there is ongoing maintenance, upgrades and additions to the community. Carpentry, landscaping, office, electrical and plumbing skills are helpful. Ability to work in an outside environment is critical.
The position is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm with an hour lunch. There is rotational on call duties that are shared between the manager couple and the assistant managers. I am looking for a couple (or a couple of couples!) who enjoys the outdoors, has some experience in ranching/farming/gardening and who loves living away from cities. Do your friends describe you as self-motivated, creative and a Mr. or Mrs. Fix-it-all? Like to put your energy into DIY projects? Know how to glue PVC together, prune trees and possibly dive into some remodeling?
My property is 50 acres total. About 40 are flat or very mildly sloped, the other 10 are up in the hills with access to some nice hikes with a little bushwhacking (the trails grew over after a fire years ago). The back portion has been allowed to go fallow.
This is truly a peaceful and remarkable, stress-free environment to live. Friendly neighbors are nearby, but you won’t hear them sneeze unless they drive over to visit you. We generally re-supply in Santa Clarita, which is about 45 minutes one-way.
The perfect couple would enjoy the many projects the ranch has in progress such as:
Weed control
Tree care and pruning
Irrigation repair/improvement
Pest control (ground squirrels and gophers, mostly)
Harvesting fruit and/or flowers
Construction
Painting
Tractor or Bobcat work
Landscaping
In addition to a great place to call home, you would be able to earn a good amount of cash from going to Farmer’s markets. Our family has become involved in careers and raising children, and and we do not attend the markets any more so the bulk of the fruit would be yours to sell, with a negotiable portion taken out to cover the expenses of the ranch (water, fuel, materials, taxes, electricity to run the wells, etc).
There is also further potential for earning by managing the apartment rentals - a negotiable percentage of the rents would be yours.
In the back of the property there is a large, fenced area (where a heard of deer were kept) that has a large shelter inside the fence. The fence needs some minor repair and a gate reinstalled, and the shelter needs some construction and repairs and then it’s goat/sheep/horse ready. In years past we kept a herd of 22 domestic deer there; more could be housed if they were allowed to roam (lots of weeds to eat) and penned at night.
Behind that there is a pen that was used for chickens and/or pigs, however it is overgrown with weeds, and houses a nest of some feral honeybees; the actual structure stability hasn’t been checked (feral bees have been given a wide berth for many, many years).
The front of the ranch has a structure that houses a tool room, outdoor laundry room (for the really filthy things you don’t want to bring inside) mechanics shop, and a large cooling room to store fruit, etc. (the cool room is about 20’X20’X7’.)
There are 2 separate houses and three connected apartments. 2 apartments are fully furnished and ready to go - those are cottages and have 1bd, 1ba each. The 2 bd/1ba apartment is being remodeled (close to finished) as is one of the houses (2+ bd/1ba - we just finished the demo part). The main house is pretty enormous - around 3,000 sq ft and is where we live part time (moved into it to complete the recent remodel). This house used to be a barn and it is beautifully redone and luxuriously appointed, but lacks central hear and air conditioning.
There are 2 fenced areas near the houses/apts for gardens or housing chickens (hens would need a little barn/roost). A veggie garden outside of these fenced areas would be subject to heartbreak as the rabbits, wild deer and squirrels would feast on the goodies.
The property has 3 wells with outstanding pressure/flow, an irrigation system and septic for all the houses/apartments. Internet landline phone and Dish TV are all possible. Heat source is generally Propane. Limited cell service depending on your provider is possible.

As our Family-Teaching Couple you will provide direct care for 6-8 at-risk youth through creating a safe and loving family style living environment. Living on-site in a Boys Town Family home, together you will provide youth with moral, spiritual, and educational development needed for future success. This includes providing emotional support utilizing praise, positive feedback, affection, and empathy to build ones self-confidence and respect. Through the use of the Boys Town Model, you will guide and teach youth appropriate skills and behaviors. Using rational problem solving techniques you will teach youth critical thinking skills, assist with behavioral problems, counsel through personal issues, and provide crisis intervention when needed. As our Family Teaching Couple you will plan, participate, and provide opportunities for individual and family activities that are both educational and entertaining. Through displaying and teaching parenting, family, and relationship skills to youth, legal guardians, and caretakers you will help create collaborative relationships and family engagement. You will maintain contact with both internal and external consumers/agencies to obtain and/or provide information regarding youth’s behaviors, strategies, and progress. As our Family Teaching Couple you will be responsible for maintaining and preparing written records for household budgeting, tracking youth progress, reporting incidents/behaviors, and documenting youth medical needs and appointments. You will continually provide support for educational success through monitoring youth academic performance. Additionally, you will teach and role model Boys Town values and ethical behaviors, as well as support and encourage participation in regular religious activities. As our Family Teaching Couple you will be responsible for supervising the activities of your assigned Assistant Family Teacher to aid in their development and success. Additionally, you will manage the daily operating schedule of the home; assist with youth transportation needs, and overall household upkeep.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, OR SKILLS
• Be at least 21 years of age or older, except if applying for Washington D.C. due to contractual requirements one must be at least 22 years of age or older
• High School diploma or equivalent is required, some college credit is preferred
• A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to pass a MVR Check
• Ability and desire to work and live with youth
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexibility and willingness to work a wide array of hours, which will include days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• A willingness to learn and implement all phases of the Boys Town Home Model, including all intervention and administrative functions

Resident Property Management for a Family Resort - Copalis Beach, WA

We are located in the Pacific Northwest; we have 21 condominiums near a private beach access with modern conveniences found in nearby Ocean Shores, Washington.
We are seeking a long-term professional Caretaker for our property (couples preferred).
Candidates must live within 30 min drive of home or live on site. The property consists of 10 acres with 21 condos and other facilities. The expectations for quality service and efficiency are high. Must be experienced working in and around being able to demonstrate skill and depth in all aspects of managing a large property. We would like someone who is very professional, local, and highly trustworthy. Duties are overall maintenance and care of the property including front desk booking and customer service. This includes overseeing others as well as ‘hands-on” execution. We will provide housing and extra cash for work.
Resident Property Management for a family resort. The positions require a self-motivated full time two-person team, with good problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach incorporated with great customer service capabilities.
Job Responsibilities:
Administrative skill set: Basic computer skills are necessary for use with Microsoft Word and onsite management software.
