FEATURED JOB OPENING: Private horse farm seeking animal care and more! - Delano, MN
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Hello! We have a small family farm and eight minutes away a soon-to-be second farm, which will be our working horse farm. The farm is located on 69 beautiful acres. It has a nine-stall barn and a large two-level home. The top of the home will be occupied by my older parents. The bottom level has two bedrooms, two baths and looks out west over the rolling pastures. The basic job, the very basic responsibilities, is to care for the animals. We currently have six horses--soon to be eight. We also have five chickens. However, I love animals and dream of expanding--perhaps a pair of donkeys and/or a pair of cows. I need an animal lover! So--muck stalls, pick up poop, turn the horses in and out, feed them, groom them--basic horse care. However--
The reason I am possibly searching for a working couple is that our farm will grow. Already, I am preparing to start a nonprofit that will support equine therapy at our farm. I am also going to be doing community outreach that will bring farm-dreaming people out for a day of volunteer work or spending time with the animals. I lived for many long years in a bit of a suburban hell, always dreaming of a more rural life and I know this longing, this frustration. I would love to have someone who could work with me on these endeavors, someone who is a people person, who could greet and work with visitors to the farm.
On our family farm, we have a restored prairie. A lot has been done to restore the land by the previous owners. It is something of a reserve. The acres here are of a different nature--wild and natural, with restored wetlands. A track system has been put in which allows us to keep as much of the prairie as possible. We hope to educate other landowners about this possiblity. Aside from being our family retreat, this place will also be good for large gatherings or fundraising events. I hope to be able to find people who would love to build this thing with me. It is just beginning.
If you think you might be the right fit, let me know why--let me know why you might be leaving your current job. I need at least one of you to wake up in the morning thinking of animals! I currently have a trainer for the horses and a facilities manager--the trainer does not have the time for the daily horse care and my facilities manager likes facilities more than animals!
Oh, I also have a lot of children in my life, so must like kids!
