FEATURED JOB OPENING: Management Team for Unique Full Service Historical Inn in the Mountains of Virginia

We are looking for a couple to run and maintain a truly unique seasonal hotel in the mountains of Virginia. This can be a year round job with off season as a caretaker and property manager positions. Located 3.5 hours from Washington DC, 2.5 from Richmond, Virginia and approx. 5.5 from NYC, we are easy drivable distance to East Coast, Mid Atlantic and Midwest Applicants. We are looking for a May- September commitment for future years with 2021 being more flexible to be used as a working and training year as due to covid we are offering a smaller season. We will be hiring the position to begin in June.. Housing is provided during the seasonal commitment and potentially year-long caretaking housing arrangement can be considered but not required.
We have an all-inclusive property that is an historic Inn, with cottages rented during the summer with all meals provided. The position skills include light office work, staff management, guest services, general computer skills, housekeeping, laundry, basic cooking (not a chef position), problem solving and maintenance. All degrees of hand on maintenance are helpful along with plumbing, electric, woodworking, tractors and yard work. Small and large projects are typical for us as we have a property over 200 years old!
An understanding that a stress free vacation for a guest, and a beautiful inspriring location is what you are there to provide is important but also we need a couple who can simply help a tradition stay afloat and not try to change the property as much as help keep it the same. This is a true lifestyle choice job for c couple who loves being outdoors, is organized, has experience and has a warm, friendly demeanor. The property/job requires each candidate to be in good physical shape, able to climb stairs many times a day, and walk hills, and lift at minimum around 25 pounds. Light maintenance will be necessary all season, with larger projects beofr and after opening as well as managing pre-season projects that require managing outside more help or professionals.
Non-smoking and a clean criminal record is important. We do run back ground checks.
The right people working for us is more important to us than any one skill. We expect to have to train the right couple to the needs of this truly unique property. References must be provided but not necassarily in this exact field. Experience in the Inn business is great to have but other experience in the hospitality business (restaurant work, etc.), and especially for the more hands on work, just showing you can be acounted on will be considered. It is a property who needs a couple who understand hospitality work, be dependable, likable to our guests and hard workers but we can train and show the ropes to that person. ESTATE MANAGEMENT COUPLE FOR UHNW PRIVATE ESTATE IN THE COTSWOLDS - UK

We have an amazing opportunity for a highly experienced, hardworking and talented estate management couple to support an UHNW family in their large country estate in the Cotswolds/West Oxfordshire. This is a busy family estate with lots of animals and multiple large properties, and you will work alongside a solid team of household staff. As a couple you will be responsible for overseeing the estate, managing the security of the property, overseeing general maintenance and upkeep of the property and grounds, managing the fleet of vintage cars, swimming pool maintenance (training can be provided if required), management of contractors, assisting the gardeners, housekeeping alongside a team of full-time housekeepers, light cooking, service and assisting at events, as well as care of animals.
This is a varied position that will require flexibility with duties, and a hardworking ‘can-do’ attitude. The family are very respectful employers and look after their staff well – they are looking for a long-term commitment from the couple they hire.
This is a live-in position, with your own self-contained 2-bedroom apartment within of one of the family properties, with it’s own kitchen, bathroom and living area. Usual working hours are from 8/9am - 5/6pm five days per week - this role does require weekend cover and so your two days off will be during the week.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
- Management of security for the estate and alarm systems
- General maintenance and upkeep of the property and grounds
- Management of car fleet, including arranging services, MOTs etc.
- Swimming pool maintenance
- Assisting the gardening team
- Arranging contractors and overseeing them whilst on-site
- General housekeeping to a very high standard
- Laundry, including clothing, fine fabrics, linens etc.
- Ironing and wardrobe management
- Packing and unpacking for the principals
- Light cooking for the family, and assisting caterers when required
- Service and assistance at events
- Provisioning and taking stock of all household items
- Flower arranging
- Deal quickly and responsibly with any issues that arise
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Previous experience in a domestic couple role on an UHNW private estate
- Team players with a positive, can-do attitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Very high attention to detail
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Trustworthy and handle confidential information appropriately
- Longevity as demonstrated by previous employment
- Able to prioritise and multitask effectively
