WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We are looking for a couple to run and maintain a truly unique seasonal hotel in the mountains of Virginia. This can be a year round job with off season as a caretaker and property manager positions. Located 3.5 hours from Washington DC, 2.5 from Richmond, Virginia and approx. 5.5 from NYC, we are easy drivable distance to East Coast, Mid Atlantic and Midwest Applicants. We are looking for a May- September commitment for future years with 2021 being more flexible to be used as a working and training year as due to covid we are offering a smaller season. We will be hiring the position to begin in June.. Housing is provided during the seasonal commitment and potentially year-long caretaking housing arrangement can be considered but not required.
We have an all-inclusive property that is an historic Inn, with cottages rented during the summer with all meals provided. The position skills include light office work, staff management, guest services, general computer skills, housekeeping, laundry, basic cooking (not a chef position), problem solving and maintenance. All degrees of hand on maintenance are helpful along with plumbing, electric, woodworking, tractors and yard work. Small and large projects are typical for us as we have a property over 200 years old!
An understanding that a stress free vacation for a guest, and a beautiful inspriring location is what you are there to provide is important but also we need a couple who can simply help a tradition stay afloat and not try to change the property as much as help keep it the same. This is a true lifestyle choice job for c couple who loves being outdoors, is organized, has experience and has a warm, friendly demeanor. The property/job requires each candidate to be in good physical shape, able to climb stairs many times a day, and walk hills, and lift at minimum around 25 pounds. Light maintenance will be necessary all season, with larger projects beofr and after opening as well as managing pre-season projects that require managing outside more help or professionals.
Non-smoking and a clean criminal record is important. We do run back ground checks.
The right people working for us is more important to us than any one skill. We expect to have to train the right couple to the needs of this truly unique property. References must be provided but not necassarily in this exact field. Experience in the Inn business is great to have but other experience in the hospitality business (restaurant work, etc.), and especially for the more hands on work, just showing you can be acounted on will be considered. It is a property who needs a couple who understand hospitality work, be dependable, likable to our guests and hard workers but we can train and show the ropes to that person.
