Farm/Estate Caretaker and House Manager - Madison, IN

Seeking full time farm estate Caretaker and House Manager with 5+ years paid experience in a domestic or similar house managment role.  Rural historic farm with horses, cattle, birds and hunting dogs is in need of experienced staff.  The Estate Manager and House Manager will work as a team to maintain the main house, guest houses, barns and grounds of a large acre working farm.  The Caretaker must know about the care and health of livestock, be an experienced horse rider and have knowledge of their exercise, care and tack; also have capable handyman skills and be able to work and maintain basic farm equipment.  The Caretaker will supervise the current Farm Manager and staff of farm hands.  Those who have operated a B&B would have ideal skills if the caretaker has also managed a farm with horses and livestock.

The House Manager will manage and operate the large main house and smaller guest cottages keeping these houses well maintained and clean; the houses are freqently used for vising guests and parties planned throughout the year.  The HM will need to be a proficient cook, have skills in fine dining, service and etiquite and creativity to plan and manage unique parties from small intimate groups to large tented affairs for 300 people.  The HM will also supervise other housekeeping staff, gardeners, service providers and vendors to maintain the houses.  This estate is used for personal and corporate entertaining of VIP's and special events.  Both management staff needs to be excellent at project management, computer literate and good at communicating well with others.  Caretaker salary range is $85 - $120K annually.  House Manager salary range is $65 - $90K depending on experience and skill level for each candidate. This is a live-out position.

Both positions will require some weekends when the house has guests and parties are planned. The schedule will allow for weekday time off to balance out these peak working times.  Our hope is to find staff that is professional, friendly, is able to exhibit great hospitality to those using the farm and make visiting houseguests feel welcome.

Club Managers - No City Specified, MI

A 100-year old hunting and fishing club with 29 members, located in northwest central lower Michigan, is looking for a couple to manage the club.

The club encompasses about 600 acres, which includes 6 miles of river (both sides).  There is a two bedroom managers’ house.  There is also a central lodge, including the member dining room and two separate member lodges (one each for men and women) which can sleep up to a total of 34 people.  The club is open to member use from approximately April 15 to November 1 yearly.

The managers will have the option to live year round in the provided house.  The main responsibilities of the managers are building upkeep and maintenance, property patrol, providing 3 meals daily to members and guests, and general daily housekeeping of the buildings.

The managers’ income consists of a monthly management fee, and the proceeds from the meal services provided to the members and guests.  The club will reimburse a fixed dollar amount to help provide the managers’ health insurance. The club has also typically awarded a discretionary year-end bonus.
