Job Description Season Runs: 1 May - 31 October
Two (2) Positions Available: (1) Housekeeping (2). Building/Grounds Maintenance One person will work in housekeeping, the other grounds/building maintenance. * We also welcome single persons to apply for housekeeping only positions.
Ranch History: This business was purchased 3 years ago by Holly and Dieter Meltvedt who live in California. They asked us to manage the facilities for a few years to get it up and running. We have spent two years overseeing extensive re-modeling to the motel rooms. This includes a new remodeled lobby, new toilets and plumbing, new wood flooring, new electric heating, new paint in many rooms, new linens and new upgrades to each bathroom. Over $150,000 in upgrades to the RV park and Motel. The RV Park has new 50 amp pedestals at each space. New frost-free water valves and new gravel roads for each RV space. We are a “work in progress” and constantly making improvements to both the Motel and RV park facilities. This property is looking very good!
Facilities: We operate a small (12) room family business. Motel guests are 90% European or other worldwide origins. The motel offers (4) rooms with two queen beds which sleeps four; (7) rooms with one queen bed which sleeps two; (1) room with two queen beds and a sofa-bed which sleeps six. Rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and Cable TV.
Work Campers ($) Compensation Ranch Provides: [ We do not provide housing for our staff. ] Huge RV Space: 60’ long x 45’ wide. 60% discounted RV Rent: $500/month. Full hook-up RV space with 30 & 50amp service, water & sewer connection. Free use of laundry (wash & dry) Free Wi-Fi RV Space Rental RV site cost $500/ month for FHU; 45’ x 60’ Site; Gorgeous view. Trade (7) hrs per week to pay for your RV space (14 hours per couple). Trade 14 hours x $9.00/hr = $126/week or $500/month for your RV space rental. Additional hours worked paid at $9/hour.
Work Schedule & Pay Rate: Your schedule will average 22 hours per week at $9.00/hour. (44 hrs./couple) 44 hrs x $9 = $1,584 for a couple (-) $500 RV Rent = $1,085/mo gross pay.
Time Off: 6 scheduled days off per month. Example: Week 1 - 2 days off; Week 2 - 1 day off; Week 3 - 2 days off; Week 4 - 1 day off (
1) Motel Housekeeping Position 2 Positions Available A married couple may be the best combination, However single individuals for housekeeping are encouraged to apply. Work (4) Hours each day - 10:00am - 2:00pm (Guests Check-in:11:00am. Check-out: 3:00pm ) Work 4 hours a day, to remake 4 to12 rooms depending upon demand. Make beds, change towels, soaps, creams, vacuum rugs, clean sinks, showers, toilets, bathroom floors, windows, dust. polish furnishings, clean mini-refrigerator, remove trash from rooms. We do not have to wash, dry or fold any bedding or towels because we utilize a professional laundry service to provide us with clean sheets, 00towels each week. Maintain a positive attitude and provide outstanding customer service to our guests. Report to maintenance any room items needing attention.
(2) Building/Grounds Maintenance Position Work (4) hours each day (Flexible schedule) Daily inspect all rooms for proper operation Support housekeeping staff (maintain rooms and building equipment, etc.) General grounds maintenance, tractor mowing, weed whip, trash pickup, repair & install irrigation lines, figure things out. Should have your own basic hand tools General knowledge in carpentry, electric and plumbing skills. Be on-call for late night emergencies (very rare) We have a workshop, 2017 Massey-Ferguson Tractor, brush hog mower, weed eaters, etc.
Other projects and requests assigned by the General Manager. Management Bill Rakozy (General Manager) Responsible for overseeing the entire operation of the motel, 27 space RV park, tent camping, reservations, customer service and seeing that the 16 acres which comprise The Riverside Ranch are improving visually and in customer experience each day. He is (not) a micro-manager and expects each person to carry their own weight and assist other staff as needed on a daily basis to get their jobs done in a professional manner.
Barbara Rakozy (Director of Housekeeping) People love working with Barbara. She will direct the housekeeping team with both daily hands-on housekeeping duties and time in the office with Bill working on reservations, customer service, etc.
Management Style: Barbara and I want your positions to be enjoyable and rewarding with sufficient time to see the sights in this beautiful part of the world. This area is like no other and people come from all points of the globe to experience this unique landscape.

About the Position
Work weeks are Sunday from 3:30 pm - Friday at 9:30 am. Weekday hours off from 9:30 am-3:30 pm. Mandatory All Staff meeting one Friday a month from 2:30-4:30 pm. As a member of the Student Life Faculty, Houseparent pairs will play an integral role in shaping the lives of the students at Monument Academy. Houseparents at Monument Academy work in pairs (either two individuals or a married couple) that reside on property in a family-style apartment and provide direct care to 8-12 single-gender students Sunday evening-Friday morning. Houseparents have Friday late morning until Sunday afternoon off. They also have school holidays off. They are expected to participate fully in professional development days. Houseparents’ living quarters are two private bedrooms with a private bath abutting the family space. The family space includes living room and kitchen area shared with their students during the week.
The Houseparent role is much more significant than supervision. Houseparents will cultivate a safe and caring home environment that is supportive of all students’ social, emotional, and academic development. They must be consistent role models with their words and actions. It is imperative that Houseparents build strong family-like relationships that begin with taking a genuine interest in every student and his or her unique story. Families will set goals together, celebrate successes together, learn new skills together, and overcome challenges together. The Houseparents guide this process and are responsible for establishing and maintaining a positive culture at all times. This includes adhering to the Monument Academy approaches to structuring the student home expectations and systems. The Student Life team is responsible for designing lessons and activities aligned with Monument Academy’s life skills curriculum, scheduling and planning for celebrations and recreational family activities, as well as participating fully in the conversations around student progress and the development and review of students’ personalized learning plans.
Houseparents’ primary responsibilities are when students are in their care from 3:45 PM until 9:00 AM. They have flexible time when the students are in school, although from time to time they may be required to participate in professional development or meetings regarding student progress as needed during the day. Houseparents will report to the Director of Student Life.
It is recommended that for houseparent couples with children that they have no more than 2 small children or 1 older child (10+) of their own residing with them on campus. Whether couples or individuals, everyone should each submit separate applications and, if married, note in the cover letter your spouse’s name and your intent to seek employment together as Houseparents at Monument Academy.

Compensation

We are looking for someone who wants to live close to nature in a beautiful environment with a rent free place and a car provided. In exchange for help with some of the below and the stated obligations. Most of the time you will be free to do your own thing. Keep clean and to good standard of tidiness the Dragon House (your home) and the tower (outside meditation/meeting area).
Allie - 6 year old friendly charismatic pit bull terrier (doesn’t get on with other female pit bulls). She has been abandoned three times and can be very needy. The mountain is her forever home and who ever comes to us needs to be able to offer her as much love and security as possible (as all who live and work on the mountain try to do. She is part of Arcadia).
Feed the two outside cats (Babette and Smokey) - Pet when they will allow and groom if possible. Deworm if you can.
Chickens,Guinea fowl and ducks - Let out and put away early morning (no later than 9am if possible) and at dusk. Feed twice a day. We give them fresh permitted fruit and vegetables and some scraps as well as crumble. Collect and clean eggs. Serve any customers who may come to the house. Food and vets bills for all the animals will be provided.
There is no paid work, as we hope this will become your home and you will see what we are trying to achieve here.
