Lodge Cook / Fishing and Wildlife Guide - Kodiak, AK

We are looking for a cook and a guide to work at our lodge. Due to remoteness we prefer a couple. Our lodge is not accessible by roads on Kodiak Island. We are family run for 30 years, and you'd be working with the owner and his family.
Lodge Cook daily prepares family style meals June 10 - September 15 for both guests and crew. You must be capable of swing shifts with time off in the afternoon. You must have previous experience in preparing entrees, breads and desserts as well as cooking for those with allergies or different food needs. This person must also be able to provide a weekly meal plan and shopping list for the employer. The kitchen is cleaned daily before heading home. The cook must have an Alaska food worker card. Pay is $4500 a month/$150 a day.
The Guide must be willing to take guests river fishing or wildlife viewing as per their request June 10 - September 15. You need experience with spinning rods, knot tying, release practices and firearms. You need to be capable of small talk and carrying coversations about nature with wildlife viewers and learning our local flora and fauna to share with them on adventures. You must be willing to take care of all the needs our guests might have including helping secure appropriate gear from our supply, packing their lunches and/or catch of the day to and from the river accordingly, and giving them a hand through slippery grass or across muddy areas. There will be on-site training to learn about the river areas, safety, and how to deal with bear encounters. When guests return from their fishing trip you will help fillet, package and clean up the fishing processing area. When there are no guests for you to take on an adventure, you'd be assigned lodge jobs including lawn care and daily maintenance jobs. The guide must be CPR/First Aid certified. Guide gets $3000 a month/$100 a day.
Couple would be provided room and board for the duration of their stay. Flight from the city of Kodiak to the lodge and back to town at the end of the season is provided for. The flight to Kodiak from your hometown is your responsibility.

- We have two full time openings for our summer manager position. Teachers, college students, couples, vandwellers, anyone with a free summer: if you like the outdoors and having 30 minute conversations with new people everyday, we’d love to hear from you! We're particularly interested in people with availability for ongoing seasons if this season works out for both of us (returning managers qualify for up to $30/hr).
The majority of our business is sending people out on overnight canoe camping trips from three different drop offs. Weekdays are generally relaxed with small morning shuttle runs in a 15 passenger van. Afternoons are generally spent updating reservations via phone and email until equipment comes in and needs to be picked up. Friday is more involved with planning and prepping vans and trailers for the big Saturday morning push. We'll generally have 3 full size buses moving a couple hundred passengers Saturday morning while 4 more vans are moving 150 canoes and kayaks into position ahead of the passengers. Saturday afternoon and Sunday are very laid back as a handful of shuttles run while staff hang out at the beach collecting boats as people return from their trips. We have a staff of 4-8 people helping out on weekends. More typically you'll be working solo Monday-Thursdays with another 1 or 2 people on Fridays.
Positions are flexible but generally aim for Friday-Tuesday and Wednesday-Sunday. Looking for candidates with the following three abilities, all of which are equally important for this job. Everything else can be taught.
1. Comfortable with web based software/technology
2. Good people skills
3. Physically strong enough to lift 80lb canoes
Requirements include:
- Temporary – mid May to mid September (flexible for school hours if necessary). Ability to return in future seasons a big plus.
- Willing to commute to/live in Spring Green, WI area (preferably living within 15 miles)
- Kayaking or canoeing experience helpful
- Must pay attention to details – shuttle schedules, equipment staging, etc. must be exact and on time.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required for insurance (Max 1 moving violation in previous 3 years, age 21+)
- Experience driving vehicles with trailer a plus (Passenger CDL is bigger plus but not required!)
- A love of the outdoors and passion for sharing it with others
- Requires someone able to operate independently without supervision
- Should be comfortable with backing trailers or willing to learn
- Must be able to lift 80lb canoes regularly
- Must be familiar and comfortable with web based software (e.g. Google Docs/Sheets, Checkfront, Ringcentral)
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee the operation of canoe and kayak rentals and transportation.
- Manage staff and shuttle schedules
- Manage/delegate check-in and shuttle operations and prep equipment trailers daily
- Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment as needed
- Foster the highest level of customer service for our customers (while holding firm with the customer that is not always right)
- Serve as a liaison between staff/clients and owners
- Participate in posting to social media accounts
- Transport equipment/passengers upriver in the mornings
- Answer phone/email questions, take payment and record reservation information as time allows
- Collect equipment coming off the river at the end of the day
- Take initiative to improve the operations
Regarding housing: There is air-conditioned housing onsite with private bedroom upstairs and a shared downstairs living area for $400/month. Tenting/vandwelling/RV parking are available with power and water connections at no charge. Pets welcome (horses, dogs, cat, and chickens on property).

Our Campground is a year-round 10/10*/10 Good Sam RV park in lower Hudson Valley, about 60 miles from New York City. We are looking for seasonal to year-round singles/couples for store/office, grounds maintenance, and pavilion.
Store/office to include: reservations, guest support, and store sales. Campground Master and POS experience a plus. Grounds maintenance to include: mowing, planting, weed control, brush trimming, maintaining hiking trails, shrubs, flowers, and other maintenance. Pavilion to include: activities, games, arts, and crafts for adults and children. $12 each for all hours worked along with 50-amp full hook-up back-in site (water, electric, sewer, WiFi, and cable TV).
