Assistant Caretaker Couple - Big Creek, ID

Big Creek Lodge recently rose again in the breathtaking backcountry of Idaho after a devastating fire. Both old school and all new. It combines the charm of a classic mountain retreat with the appeal of modern amenities.

Owned and operated by the Idaho Aviation Foundation, this non-profit public resource provides an opportunity for guests to explore Idaho’s beautiful backcountry.

Big Creek Lodge opens for backcountry fly in’s May 26th, open to motorized vehicles starting in July and continues through the first week of October.

Amenities are simple: we generate our own electricity via hydro, we have slow but working Wi-Fi, the nearest town of 3,000 is more than a 3-hour drive away...but the lodge's huge fireplace and spruce log construction welcomes those who truly want to disconnect. Visitors are thrilled to visit the 2.3 million acre Wilderness a stone's throw away, yet enjoy the hospitality and safety Big Creek Lodge provides to those who cannot or do not wish to camp.

The rebuilt Big Creek Lodge has 4comfortable rooms for rent to the public, and will normally accommodate 10-12 people with up to 22 possible via a backcountry yurt and small cabin nearby. It is known as a special 'fly in' breakfast spot, so weekends can be busy in the morning with slower times mid-week. The Assistant Caretaker will help run the lodge under the direction of an onsite Manager while working cooperatively with a supervisor located in Boise, Idaho.

General Job Duties:

The Assistant Caretaker has a variety of duties shared by three people (and volunteer help), including:

Understanding and embracing the vision of Big Creek Lodge
Cheerfully greeting/serving guests, answering questions, help coordinate activities, relate area history
Planning, preparing and serving meals and drinks (including wine/beer)
Ordering and storing/handling food and drink, supplies, & merchandise
Cleaning lodge & guest rooms, including the yurt, & maintaining clean linens
Planning for guests via reservation data from website
Collecting payments for services and goods, basic record keeping
Mowing and watering lawn; irrigating pasture
Maintaining buildings and equipment, performing minor maintenance as needed
Cutting/splitting firewood as needed
Disposing of garbage
Assist in collecting donations for the Foundation on-site
Promoting Big Creek Lodge via website/social media posts
Delegating appropriate work to volunteers when available
Understanding and meeting operational requirements of USFS Special Use Permit
Maintaining productive relationships with USFS, neighbors, outfitters, etc.
Managing controllable costs
Assisting customers with emergencies and other issues as needed
Must be over 19, have a valid drivers' license and be able to lift 50 lbs

Schedule is very flexible and can vary from day to day depending on customer checkouts and scheduled lunches.

Camp Host(s) Position - Marble Falls, TX

Creekside Camp & Cabins is a small, family owned business. It was established in 2004 in the heart of the beautiful highland lakes. The property is 6 wooded acres on Hamilton Creek, just 3 miles outside of Marble Falls. We are a Christian family and several of us live on the property. The creek is great for fishing, swimming and canoeing. Some other things to enjoy are the wildflowers, birds and wildlife, not to mention the views.

We are in need of a manager which includes cleaning, marketing, taking reservations and admin. We would consider a couple for this position as we have maintenance and lawn work to be done as well. So the job is flexible for one or two people.

Managerial skills needed for the position are knowledge of taking reservations, Google calendars, bookkeeping software and good customer service. The cleaning part of the position requires enjoying hospitality, being detail oriented and physically capable. This position is 60% cleaning, 40% administrative work during peak season and consists of 10 rental units. Off season there is more of a variety of tasks.

We offer a competitive salary and have a space for an rv, along with the amenities here at Creekside. The Manager position is full time. The maintenance position wouldn’t be quite full time, however we could keep you quite busy. We promote a peaceful and positive work environment here at Creekside.

We can discuss salary, bonus program and would include rv space and utilities as a full package. We are looking for long term hosts.
