Maintenance / Housekeeping Couple for Large Estate in Cape Cod MA - Truro, MA

On Site Caretakers Excellent opportunity for a motivated hard working couple to care for a large historic estate property on beautiful Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The Job: The job requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. Provide full care of grounds and all guest changeover cleanings, usually once/week. During the summer change overs are on Sunday. The grounds keeping requires weekly mowing as well as periodic weeding trimming of hedges, bushes, and small trees. The changeover cleanings take about 12 hours (6 hours for 2 experienced cleaners plus laundry.). Must know how to do housekeeping and keep a large home very clean. Will be responsible for rubbish removal from property, spring cleaning, fall cleanup, and winterization. In the spring there is spreading of approximately 25 yards of mulch over a one month period and in fall there is leaf removal and fall cleanup from late September to Nov 30th. Other tasks as assigned, painting, deck staining, pick up owner from airport, etc. The Estate is used as vacation rental rented weekly throughout the spring, summer and fall with occasional visits by owner and family. Also responsible for completing changeover cleanings on Saturday at a smaller home on Cape Cod (Saturday change over) as well as gardening and landscape work at this home. Compensation consists of private attached large studio apartment with a separate entrance. It includes cable TV, WIFI and all utilities, on the property, plus a monthly stipend (TBD between $0 - $1250 depending on experience, ability to complete work, etc), all utilities, including WIFI and cable television.

Position can be from late April through November 30 or year round. There is ample summer employment available locally which you would be free to pursue while residing on the estate provided you are able to keep up with the caretaking responsibilities of the property. Must be attentive and respond to varying needs and help make our property a unique destination on Cape Cod. Perfect for a young couple looking to save money with no rent expense and willing to work hard or for a semi-retired couple who wants to enjoy Cape Cod and preserve their nest egg. Must be Non smokers, self motivated, hardworking, in good health, energetic and meticulous in maintaining the house and property. Would hope for a long-term commitment, taking pride in keeping up a beautiful place to live. No pets or children. No drama. Must keep professional appearance and conduct at all times around guests and owner. Must have excellent cleaning and landscaping references.

Our goal is to hire and retain qualified applicants, we would prefer to hire a couple who is looking to stay 3+ years at the position.  After the 2nd completed season hiree will be eligible for an annual bonus.

Caretakers - Small Retreat Center Camp - Great Cacapon, WV

We are looking for an energetic couple to help with our nature-based business - a small, family-owned eco retreat center located in the eastern panhandle of WV. Three Otters is a gorgeous 14 acre property with a quarter mile on the Potomac River, an organic garden, a 1 acre ball field, and a range of community gathering spaces and eclectic lodging options.

Here's what we are looking for: an open minded, all peoples loving, RVing (preferable. but not a deal breaker), adventurous, handy, hard-working couple that cares deeply for nature, has an interest in sustainability (e.g., organic gardening). Here's what we need help with: gearing up for and running the 2017 season (April-October - give or take) - tasks include help w grounds, garden, housekeeping, handyman/woman projects, greeting guests, planning events, running float trips, and/or cooking. We are looking for a couple to tag team with us to create a warm, welcoming, pleasant win-win scenario for everyone who visits, volunteers, or works at Three Otters. 

Here's what you need to know. Sorry, no children. Pets are welcome as long as they are GREAT with other pets and with people. We prefer hosting a couple that has their own RV (we will provide water, electric and a dump station). Three Otters is remote, located 30 min from the nearest town. While we have a landline, cellphone access is spotty and we do not have internet access (though we are working on it!). We do have a small cabin that you can visit on your days off and it has internet. Finally, the last few miles into the property are on an old, narrow bumpy railroad bed, so if you have a great big, beautiful RV, you will NOT want to trek to Three Otters.

Compensation: You will have a free place to stay in a beautiful setting with access to some lovely amenities. You will also have access to a small cabin where you can stay on your days off and catch up online. In addition, you can enjoy free and fresh organic produce. That said, Three Otters is labor intensive and with your help we can improve and expand the business. We will provide a stipend ($10-14 per hour) depending on your level of experience.
