FEATURED JOB OPENING: Resident Caretakers: EarthRise Transformative Learning Center (IONS) - Petaluma, CA

We are seeking a couple as full-time, resident caretakers that can commit to a minimum of a one-year stay. The position requires caretakers who are competent and capable with good communication skills, customer service focused, strongly self-motivated and self-disciplined, and who enjoy being creative, physically active, and being outside in nature. Our caretakers would act as stewards of the land but also hosts of our events, working closely with our group leaders and participants. You would be a member of the EarthRise at IONS team and would need to have a similar mindset to the existing staff and retreat goers.

Caretakers must be self-reliant, hard working, and agree to live in a residential facility prepared for them. Living quarters include a modular building which has a huge master bedroom, bath with shower, living/sitting area, and full kitchen. A golf cart is available for traversing the campus, and we can accommodate up to two personal vehicles on site at all times. Laundry is available on site.  A phone is provided for the caretakers during their working hours. Caretakers cannot leave the property while on-duty.

Main daily/nightly duties include, but are not limited to:

1.    Serve as the main on-site contacts for groups.

2.    Perform general handyperson maintenance and report larger issues.

3.    Conduct site orientations.

4.    Assist guests into rooms.

5.    Open and close main gate.

6.    Vigilance for safety, especially during the fire season. Since EarthRise is private property, this also means escorting uninvited guests off the land.

Minimum Skills/Qualifications

·         Knowledge of property management and hospitality.

·         Solid handyperson skills, including basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

·         High social and emotional intelligence

·         Hospitality mindset with a friendly customer service attitude and flexibility is required. 

·         Team players and communicates effectively with staff, management, and guests.

·         Strongly self-motivated and self-disciplined and able to work in a fast paced environment

·         Gardening skills a plus.

·         An interest in transformative education is desirable.

·         Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

·         Must be able to lift at least 30lbs.  Walking, bending, lifting required.

·         Work environment consists of beautiful vistas in a rural environment. While a golf cart is available, may need to walk distances of .25 mile at a time – this is the distance of one side of the campus to the other.

House Parent(s) - Eastaboga, AL

A House Manager (or couple) is a responsible position that cares for adults with developmental disabilities in a group home setting.

The Housemanager(s) schedule is a 2 weeks on and 1 week off schedule. 3:30PM to 9:00AM weekdays (daytime is free) for 2 weeks and 24 hours over the weekends, on Holidays and when the day program is closed, then 1 week completely off. HM's have a bedroom in the home and can sleep after 10:00 PM.

Monday through Friday residents go to a day program, HM's drop off the residents at 8:15AM and pick them up at 3:30PM, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM HM's are off duty M-F.

Friendly Workcamper Couple Needed for 2017 Season - Almond (Near Waupaca and Stevens Point), WI

This is a seasonal job beginning the first of May, 2017 and ending the end of September, 2017.  Dates to be determined soon.  For 24 hours/week you will receive a full hook-up site (30 or 50 AMP) and utilities for the season.

As a couple you will be responsible for 24 hours of coverage in and around the clubhouse.  The hours will consist of office hours involving manning the office, cleaning of the clubhouse, clubhouse bathrooms, and laundry building.  The office will be open 7 days a week and the hours will be split with our other Workamper couple or volunteer hosts.  The office hours will be 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a 1 hour lunch break.  Typical duties include:

• Cashiering, taking inventory and preparing lists for cleaning and paper goods needed, assisting members with items needed.
• Assisting customers checking in/out of the campground for corporate lot camping
• Assisting with special events: hot dog roasts, pancake breakfasts, rallies, etc.
• Propane tank filling once trained by our supplier.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Watering the plants and flowers around the clubhouse and the front gate.
• Mowing and weedeating around the common areas of the park including by the clubhouse, the rally field and pavillion area, the mini-golf area and corporate rental lots.

We have many small farm animals here to help us build soil and feed the people living here and my family. We have planted over 600 trees. We have built a lodge for guests and have several building project in the works to hopefully complete before the first of the year.

We will provide very nice living quarters and three meals a day in exchange for 4 to 5 hours of work a day combined. To make that clearer, one of you could work 2 hours in the morning and the other could work 2 hours in the middle of the day and 1 more hour checking on the animals before bed. When we do building projects on the land we would pay you for those hours depending on your skill level. We should have several of these projects over the next 5 months.

Daily life on the farm right now consists of feeding and watering animals, irrigating gardens that are on an automated drip system. Help with cooking for guest about once a week. Keeping lodge vacuumed and dusted. Keeping the outside tidy and organized.

We use our tractor everyday so it is something that you would need to feel comfortable using. It is an automatic piece of equipment so it is very easy to learn. We also use the website workaway.info to acquire workers for the ranch. We have had over 25 people here over the past 3 years helping us. We need you to manage them and keep them busy. Plan the meal schedule and get them to cook, clean and whatever is needed. We like to keep around 4 to 6 at a time but when winter come we can't house them here. We have a camp site for the workers but it is not winterized.

We are hoping to find a couple interested in helping us because we are doing several permaculture projects on the Navajo Nation that are really big and we can't do both right now.
