Job Description:

We are currently seeking a responsible and friendly camp host to help us staff Bagby Hot Springs, the trailhead, and the Bagby Campground. The camp host will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the campground and hot springs, ensuring the comfort and safety of guests, and providing excellent customer service.

As a camp host, you will be responsible for the following duties:

- Greet guests upon arrival and check them into the campground
- Manage reservations and assign campsites
- Monitor campground and hot springs for cleanliness and safety
- Provide information to guests about the area, including hiking trails, points of interest, and local amenities
- Enforce campground rules and regulations
- Collect fees and maintain accurate financial records
- Assist with light maintenance tasks as needed
- Be available on-call to assist guests with any issues or emergencies

Requirements:

- Must have your own off-grid capable RV, as there are no utilities available on site
- Previous experience in customer service and/or hospitality is preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation:

This is a work-camping position, and compensation will include a free campsite and monthly salary based on experience.

- As improvements are made, the camp host will have access to communications, wifi, firewood, and propane at Bagby. Ripplebrook (15 miles from Bagby) currently has communications, wifi, and firewood.

Description: Bagby Hot Springs is a remote location in the Mt Hood National Forest. Bagby Preservation Inc holds a 20 year permit to operate Bagby Hot Springs and the Ripplebrook Camp Store (15 miles from Bagby). 2023 is the first year of the permit and there is a lot to do! Bagby is at an elevation of 2280 feet with alpine conditions. The Camp Host will be stationed at the Bagby Trailhead with no utilities available (there is an outhouse). The managed area includes fee collection at he trailhead, operation of the associated campground, and the hot springs itself (which is a 1.5 mile hike from the trailhead/3 miles round-trip).

Bagby Hot Springs is over 35 miles from the nearest city, Estacada. Bagby Preservation Inc will also be operating a campstore about 15 miles from Bagby that has utilities to refill water, dump sewage, charge batteries, has wifi, and has minimal food/snack options for camp hosts to use.

It is a beautiful, remote location. The forest is large, old growth trees with lots of recreational opportunities in the area. In 2020 there was a large fire to the North of Bagby (the Riverside Fire) which devestated a huge area of the forest. Bagby Hot Springs and the managed areas were not affected by the fire.
