Tennessee: Volunteer Park Hosts - US Army Corps of Engineers, Dale Hollow Lake. Beautiful family-oriented parks seeking couples for resident campground/day use volunteer hosts.
Dale Hollow Lake is a beautiful, crystal-clear lake surrounded by forested hillsides and is known for a variety of water and land-based recreation opportunities including fishing, boating, and camping just to name a few. We also lay claim to the world record small mouth bass and the best lake-front camping in the region. Dale Hollow is a vacation destination and is centrally located about a 2-hour drive from Lexington, KY and Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, TN. The region offers a wide diversity of cultural, recreational, and entertainment opportunities.
1. Dale Hollow Damsite Park Attendant Assistant, Celina, TN. This position is needed April and May of 2023 and can be a single individual. Duties include checking in customers, selling annual passes, patrolling the campground, opening & closing security gates and providing visitor information and assistance. Computer experience required for Recreation.gov reservation platform. Workdays Tuesday and Wednesday.
2. Lillydale Day Use, Allons, TN. This position is needed May to September 2023 but can be extended. Duties include overseeing a day use area, instructing guests how to use the automated pay station, checking vehicle paid status in lot, and providing visitor information and assistance. No office provided. Workdays are when the park is the busiest which will be weekends and holidays with random checks weekdays.
3. Obey River Park Day Use, Byrdstown, TN. This position is needed April to September of 2023, can be extended, and can a single individual. Duties include overseeing a very busy day use area, instructing guests how to use the automated pay station, checking vehicle paid status in lot, and providing visitor information and assistance. Office provided. This position will coordinate with another volunteer to ensure maximum coverage of the area, including holiday work. *Volunteer site does not have sewer hookup, but a dump station is in close proximity.
4. Resource Manager’s Office, Celina, TN. This position is needed for April to September 2023 and can be extended. It is for a couple interested in light maintenance, such as painting, and facility repair, along with routine office assistance for answering phones and selling Corps/ATB passes. Computer experience helpful. Volunteers must be able to work independently and create their own schedules based on assigned project timeline.
Volunteer hours traded for site with hookups and opportunity to live in the park during volunteer term. Sites are included with water, electric and sewer hookups*. Laundry in the park is included and free Wi-Fi is available near the registration center. The offset for the camping site for long-term volunteers will have a value exceeding $6,000.
