A couple needed to work on our property consisting of two sister properties. We are located on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. This is a seasonal position from May until October with affordable housing available.
Must be detail oriented, organized, able to work in a team environment with a positive outlook.
Maintenance Team Member
- Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests.
- Knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Check for new maintenance requests and update once the task is completed.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
- Ability to work under pressure situations and exercise good judgements.
- Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.
- Ability to read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
- Perform maintenance activities like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners / HVAC and AC ducts.
- Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment.
- To clean and maintain all tools and equipment.
- To operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
- To be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
- Carry out specific oral and written instructions.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Owner or General Manager.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in a similar role with a good understanding of English, both written and oral.
AND
Guest Services Representative
- Perform duties as outlined in the Front Office Training Procedures.
- Check guests in and out of the hotel in a courteous and pleasant manner.
- Use the appropriate phrases and greetings when interaction with guests.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
- Ability to work under pressure situations and exercise good judgements.
- Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.
- Provide information pertaining to available services and facilities of hotel, points of interest and entertainment attractions, making reservations as needed.
- Offer assistance to the individual needs and requests of all guests. Ensure guest needs are responded to in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain guest confidentiality at all times.
- Conduct self in a friendly and attentive manner during all guest encounters.
- Use proper telephone and reservation etiquette including describing the hotel, proper rate quotation and capturing reservations
- Operate phone system in, at times, a fast paced environment.
- Communicate pertinent shift information to the next shift and direct supervisor.
- Carry out specific oral and written instructions.

- Performs other duties as assigned by Owner or General Manager.
Experience:

OR
Housekeeping Attendant
- Undergo training on specifics to housekeeping duties
- Understand the company’s policy on work shifts, guest’s possessions and privacy issues
- Provide basic housekeeping duties including changing the sheets, changing and arranging the towels, restocking toilet supplies, vacuuming, dusting and rearranging the room after guests check out
- Report and return any guest properties found in the rooms while rendering service
- Report cases of property damage to supervisor
- Work with a team of housekeepers on each shift
- Clean, disinfect and store all equipment at the end of the shift
Excellent working knowledge of cleaning appliances and their operations and proper use of cleaning agents
Attention to detail
Physical strength and stamina to work extended periods
Ability to maintain confidentiality
