Farm/Animal Workers - Southern Louisiana
We are Ken (81) and Linda (75) Smith and we own a total of 23 1/2 acres in South Louisiana. The land is divided by a road in front of our old 1920’s house. Fifteen are leased by a local guy for sugar cane farming. We have 8 1/2 on our side for the house, pastures, and garden. Much needs doing here. We had huge pecan trees, but Hurricane Andrew devastated them and they are gradually dying. We have two horses, five dogs (currently), seven cats, and two peacocks. We take in injured or orphaned animals, so animal counts fluctuate. We heat with wood, don’t air condition, and try to be as kind to the earth and its creatures as possible. Okay... we are seeking a like-minded younger person(s) to live with us and put up with two college educated, opinionated, vocal old farts and work inside and outside for room and board. There is definitely a possibility of more if things work out. If this information piques your interest, respond favorably. If it doesn’t, will you please let us know that. Lol.
