POSITION – House Parents - Couples or Singles
ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: Providence Pass is one of America’s elite residential therapeutic programs and education centers for at-risk youth. We are currently serving young women ages 13 to 17. Located near Walt Disney World, Providence Pass offers year-round residential care in a first class setting. We have approximately 20 students.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Prefer 2+ years of direct care experience in a residential environment with at-risk youth, counseling experience or other similar experience
- Willingness to work in a Christian environment and uphold those values with students
- Strong leadership skills
- Maintain consistent standards and consequences
- Maintain good judgment at all times
- Ability to follow established guidelines
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training – 20 hours per year
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Perform basic math skills
- Perform basic computer skills
- Ability to adapt to varying environmental conditions
- Show initiative and maintain an attitude of flexibility
- Willing to submit to a background check
- Strong decision-making skills
- Ability to lead and motivate others
- Drive students to school, medical and other appointments
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van – future possibility of getting a CDL license for larger vehicle
- Excellent organizational, time-management and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including excellent grammar and spelling skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Valid Driver’s License – clean driving record for last 3 years
- Willing to get First Aid and CPR certification
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Experience working in stressful and challenging situations
- Experience with de-escalating situations and crisis management
- Lay Counselor experience a plus
- Military experience a plus
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to encourage and mentor the spiritual development of the students
- Execute the daily operations of the residential program
- Facilitate intake and exit operations
- Monitor phase development, productivity and growth in the program
- Plan and lead daily house meetings
- Model appropriate behavior
- Follow guidelines to administer consequences as needed
- Monitor student behavior, activities, free-time, and interactions with other students
- Oversee medication responsibilities in a digital system
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of each child
- Update case notes on a daily basis in an online system
- Develop a rapport with students and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship
- Ability to work in stressful and challenging situations
- Ability to de-escalate conflicts
- Demonstrate a goal driven and success-oriented philosophy
- Assist with daily living activities and care/maintenance of residence and vehicles
- Keep medication authorizations updated
- Administrative responsibilities for insurance billing
- Meet and exceed all accreditation standards
- Provide supervision and guidance for residents during skill building activities
- Plan and coordinate weekend outings
- Maintain budget
- Prepare and serve weekend meals – maintain sanitation standards
- Provide timely and effective parent communication – collect and review parent updates
- Schedule, attend and document student medical appointments
- Conduct and document monthly fire drills
- Complete incident reports and any other required paperwork
- Work separately as needed when situations call for one parent to be offsite with or without students
- Drive a 15-passenger van
- Comfortable around animals
- Collaborate with academic and therapeutic team members
- Mentor and train assistant direct care employees
- Any other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Able to stand, sit, walk, run, push, pull, grasp, climb, bend, reach, lift, carry, stoop, squat, kneel, drive, write, type and have full range of motion throughout entire shift with or without an accommodation
- Able to manage sleep to respond to student needs overnight
Preference will be given to those individuals with previous experience working with adolescents in a therapeutic residential or group living environment.
