Ideally the couple applying will have a passion for hospitality. They will need to enjoy serving others and assisting guests, revel in the day to day challenges of serving others and want to make a difference in the lives of others by giving them an amazing stay to remember. It takes a friendly demeanor, and a passion for hospitality. We offer several distinct types of lodging at our Historic Inn, Lodges and RV Park. We are located near the beach in the heart of Old Town Homer, walking distance to eateries, shopping, and art galleries.
This position's responsibilities include:
- Creating a welcoming environment for guests to feel special and create lasting good memories on their getaway
- Working odd hours or split shifts and covering for others who may call in sick, etc.
- Booking fishing charters, bearviewing, sightseeing and other tours
- Making sure coffee is on most mornings if applicable
- Overall attention to detail of spaces, decorations, plants, cleanliness inside and outside
- Able to carry luggage up 2-3 flights of stairs, if needed
- Comfortable using a computer
- Comfortable making conversation with guests
- Training staff members, if needed
- Maintain quality & cleanliness standards by making frequent walk throughs of spaces and coordinating with housekeeping and maintenance
- Good Communication with team members
- Oversee upkeep and maintenance of property and appliances by coordinating with Maintenance Man and contractors
- Periodically fixing a TV, a cable box, plunging a toilet, changing a light bulb, etc...
- Bookkeeping
- Checking supplies and inventory
- Guest Check-In and Check-Out
- Managing guest compliments and complaints
- Cleaning Rooms & Common areas, if housekeeper is not available; but mainly overseeing and managing housekeeping schedules and details so hopefully it's not often
- Laundry
- Light gardening or snow removal as needed; maintenance can help with this but early checkouts sometimes need attention
- General maintenance of Website
- Assisting in responding to online reviews
- Daily emails and inquires
- Researching and Establishing Rates and Changes to Rates if applicable
- Positive Attitude
- No pets or smoking
Ideally the job would be 40 hours per week so that you can enjoy our beautiful state. Overtime would apply. The rate of pay would be negotiable depending on experience and include Lodging or space for your recreational vehicle. A vehicle would be available for any work related activities.
