FEATURED JOB OPENING: Maintenance and Innkeeping at 60 acre family run Caribbean eco resort - St Lucia

We are looking for a responsible, experienced and hands-on couple to help care for a unique eco resort and nature heritage site with 6 guest cottages set within a beautiful historic site which includes a 180 year old plantation house, 18th century sugar mill and several beaches within walking distance.

Balenbouche Estate is a former sugar plantation and a popular destination for vacations, retreats, guided tours, weddings and other events - yet very authentic and off the beaten track. We offer a personal experience for guests and volunteers based a on a simple, healthy, local, outdoor lifestyle. We are looking for like minded individuals with a strong work ethic to become part of our team for a few months or longer. The ideal couple will have the following combined skills: Building maintenance and construction (including plumbing, electrical and carpentry), cooking, housekeeping, guest relations, event management and marketing. Experience in hotel management, web design and social media is a bonus.

Our team currently includes the owners; mother (76) and daughter (44) with German/American/Westindian roots, 2 housekeepers, 1 maintenance person/carpenter, and 4 gardeners/general labourers. We slowly built up the business from scratch over the past 37 years, dedicating all our time and resources to it. We are now ready to take things to the next level, and delegate some key responsibilities to others, such as the general maintenance and preparation of meals. The ideal candidates will be patient and resilient, easy to get along with, and able to handle new challenges and emergencies with a positive, solution oriented attitide.

Compensation includes room and board and a small stipend initially, with the option of a modest salary and/or profit sharing in the event of a longer term commitment.
