FEATURED JOB OPENING: Caretaker(s) - Virginia Cat Refuge - Culpeper, VA

We are seeking  year-round, full-time Caretaker(s) for the onsite management of the Virginia Cat Refuge in Culpeper, Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain the health of the resident cats and ensure maintenance of the grounds.

Ensure the appropriate standards of care are adhered to so there is a safe environment for the resident cats.Knowledge of animal welfare, including care, handling, health, behavior and sheltering issues.  This is a long term commitment to care for animals and requires lots of hard work and dedication. Candidate must be goal orientated and work autonomously with a high degree of accountability. Requires valid Virginia driver license. Background and drug testing required. Must be non-smoker.

This position requires that the Caretaker maintain rent free full-time residence in a two-story, 4 bedroom, and 2 bathroom house. Caretaker is responsible for all utilities and we require a $500 refundable deposit.  Only the Caretaker(s) and his/her immediate family can live in the house.  Pets are ok, no more than 2 dogs and 2 cats allowed. Stipend of $300 per week.

Experience/Requirements:                                                                                                                                        

• Must be able to organize, execute, and report on work activities without direct supervision
• Must be administratively detailed and enjoy working with animals.
• Strong knowledge of animal welfare: including care, handling, health, behavior and sheltering issues.
• Previous animal-related work experience required.
• Strong leadership ability and motivational skills.
• Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of animals.
