New Mexico, 35 miles from Santa Fe. 5800 ft elevation, on US Highway and the Rio Chama river.

Permanent position for Caretaker - couple. Private 60 acre "ranch" but horses are only occasional visitors. Duties include;

1- monitoring and managing ranch facilities which include well, water treatment equipment, irrigation wells and systems, waste treatment, solar heat, stand-by diesel powered generator, security systems, fire safety, telephone and internet (we provide instructions).

2- Pasture , ground cover, pond. sand paths, arenas,paddocks and  roads and deadfall (cottonwood) management. 

3- lawn and garden care

Facility includes main house and garden, barn, large work shop with winch, hay barn, pond with fountain and filters, 5/8th mile oval track and caretakers casita(little house). 

4- if a couple applies, some house cleaning and additional seasonal gardening work available.

 Requires about twenty hours a week averaged over the year (more in growing season, far less in winter). Must be able to perform general handyman work,  handle a tractor and maintain machinery. Crude welding (pipe fence repair etc.)desirable.

You will have time for outside part-time work or pursuing your own hobbies, art work etc.

 

You must be drug free, pass credit and criminal checks, be a non-smoker (fire risk). Pets ok with prior approval.

 

 A five year old stick- built one bedroom house fully equipped with modern kitchen (custom hard-wood cabinets and stainless appliances, laundry and bath, heat, air conditioning, and  internet are provided. Salary dependent on your background and skill level.

 

Position available June 9th or later by mutual agreement.
