California Community Opportunities (CCO) is a not-for-profit organization with a mission of providing positive, safe, progressive, and attractive community homes and services in the Bay Area for people who experience developmental disabilities. CCO is committed to enhancing life for all its members by embracing naturally occurring opportunities in the home and community.
Family teachers provide teaching and support to three persons with developmental disabilities in separate but attached three bedroom duplexes in the Bay Area. Family Teachers work with the individuals in the home and manage all home operations.
Compensation includes: - A Salary of up to $62K per couple - A two or three bedroom duplex in a great neighborhood with great schools - Most utilities paid - A monthly food placed in a residential account - Use of a company vehicle - M-F work schedule, and 2 days of on-call supervision This position is a live in position.

QUALIFICATIONS: - A high School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services or related field preferred. - One-two years of prior experience in a position of similar scope - Knowledge of computers, specifically knowledge in word, excel, and database systems - Ability to perform household cleaning tasks (moving heavy furniture and appliance on rollers, pushing pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and overhead reaching) - Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, cooking skills and an ability to follow menus and recipes - Ability to recognize natural teaching opportunities and act up on them - Ability to handle personal care tasks with sensitivity and caring. - Ability to allay maladaptive behaviors (sometimes aggressive) while maintaining calm and composure - Awareness of and ability to adapt own leadership style according to the supervisor situation at hand, and knowledge of and ability to recognize motivational patterns in others. Effective skills in active listening, coaching, and basic employee supervision. - Must have a high energy level, adaptability, assertiveness, patience, and ability to work in a team environment.
Must have proof of a valid drivers license and must have been maintained for 2 or more years. Employment shall be contingent upon the results of fingerprint clearance, a check of applicable abuse and neglect reports developed and monitored by the State of California, the Department of Developmental Disabilities and Adult Protective Service agencies.
