We are seeking an exceptional, positive, energetic, and capable person(s) or couple with an enthusiastic guest service ethic and previous resort or motel experience!
The position requires hands-on management for a busy 58-room privately-owned Motel/Inn in Ponoka Alberta. As this property is located in a small community in rural Alberta, the perfect person(s) should have an entrepreneurial spirit and be very friendly community-builders. This position requires a positive and energetic person(s) who are in good health, have strong work ethics and professional standards of excellence. You must be willing to live on the premises. You should be great with people and excel at face-to-face customer service in hospitality. This job requires you to work well in a team environment. You will be responsible for typical hotel front desk operations that require registering of guests, handling guest issues with patience, be resolution-oriented, as well as capable of leading employees in a positive and empowering manner. Computer literacy, financial literacy, hotel accounting and the property management software, ‘Innsource Solutions Inc.’, experience is a plus.
The right person(s) must be able to undertake all facets of daily operations including: keeping a very clean, well-maintained property, public relations, marketing skills, reception, customer service and sales, housekeeping, gardening, cleaning and general maintenance.
Specific Skills: Minimum 5 years experience in the hospitality industry required although we may accept another industry equivalency such as retails or restaurant. Be marketing savvy with a sound knowledge of 21st Century internet marketing skills for the hospitality industry. You should also have a hands-on, working knowledge of maintenance and repairs.
Details: Plan, organize, direct and control daily operations, including front desk and daily accounting. Oversee daily cleaning and maintenance of the property. Develop marketing and promotional strategies. Implement the marketing strategies and develop sound community relations. Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery, building and grounds, electrical and mechanical and other systems. Enforce policies. Administer contracts for the provision of supplies and services. Recruit and train staff. Conduct performance reviews. Ability to supervise 10 people or less. Work closely with the owners on reporting and accountability.
Financial management: Proven knowledge of financial management and reporting, hospitality budgeting and cash flow.
Business Equipment and Computer Applications: General office equipment, MS Word and MS Excel, Internet browser, Electronic Mail, Social Marketing.
Human Resource Responsibilities and Supervision: 1 person to 10 person Working Groups, Contractors, Staff in various areas of responsibility.
Work conditions: Attention to detail, people-oriented, work under pressure, can be physically demanding, repetitive tasks, ability to prioritize,
Security and safety: Must be bondable, have a clean driving record, and no criminal record. A police records check and 6 – 10 professional and personal references will be asked for and checked. History of sound financial practices and personal credit history also required.
Languages: The ability to speak, read and write English. Other languages are an asset.
