Grampians Eco YHA is a 64 bed purpose-built, environmentally friendly hostel situated in the small town of Halls Gap, Victoria. It has a very high guest ratings and great social facilities and is Eco Tourism certified. The hostel features photovoltaic cells, solar hot water and rainwater recycling. There is scope to make significant increases to occupancy, especially in small group and Rent-a-YHA stays.
 
The hostel is managed under a Service Agreement, and the Contractor would usually employ a live-in couple with broad hospitality experience plus have suitable relief and holiday staff available.
 
The Service Contractor receives:
  • A one bedroom apartment on-site
  • A guaranteed base income
  • Profit share on growth of the business
  • Share of the income on internet, laundry, shop and membership sales
  • YHA covers most expenses of running and maintaining the hostel
  • Use of YHA intellectual property, systems and processes
  • YHA provides National and Regional marketing
The Service Contractor responsibilities include:
  • All reception and hostel management duties appropriate for a grade 3 hostel
  • All standard YHA record keeping and reporting
  • All housekeeping duties, including laundering bedding
  • Maintaining the grounds and minor hostel maintenance
  • Local marketing and relationships
  • Managing own employee obligations, public liability, WHS and Workcover insurance
