Several Positions Now Open at Resort/Campground in Big Sur, California - Couples Welcome!
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Several key people needed now at a campground/resort in Big Sur, California. Working couples are welcome!
ALL applicants should be OUTSTANDING communicators (especially on the listening end!), ready, willing and able to FOLLOW DETAILED DIRECTION and should be endowed with LEVEL HEADS AND COMMON SENSE. : )
We have a current crew of really great people, some of whom have been with us for several years. They have happily taken on many responsibilities and could appreciate adding some more capable shoulders on which to carry the load. We seek individuals who can serve in leadership positions while working in the trenches alongside their coworkers.
Our property has about 30 cabins, 2 large public restrooms with showers, 3 laundry facilities, countless vacuums, steam cleaners, appliances, a large generator, vehicles, landscaping equipment, other buildings including our office, septic system, drinking water treatment system, 13 acres of grounds among the redwoods and more.
This is a 24/7/365 business. We do not have an "off-season". When guests thin out, we get busy with projects that allow us to keep the property well maintained.
Because we do not like to limit individuals to just one titled "position" before we even meet them! this ad will outline a little about what we do and what we have here and if you feel you could be a strong contributor on MANY OR MOST of them, respond to the add. We wish to take on people who are sincerely interested in learning ALL aspects of the operation and who have a natural inclination toward this type of service work. We will train you on the specifics if you are a great fit. For us, it is all about attitude and a willingness to work and be a long-term part of our team.
We have a need to address equipment and appliance MAINTENANCE, building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventative maintenance, inspections and more. We do not "outsource" very much in the area of maintenance here. We do not expect nor desire to find someone who "knows-it-ALL", though some practical experience in some or all of these areas is desired.
Most tools are provided, but if you have some of your own, that's a bonus.
We would prefer to find someone with an openness that allows for listening, learning and who has an aptitude for machinery and maintenance.
Until now, the owners have undertaken most aspects of maintenance of equipment, buildings and the grounds themselves, delegating smaller tasks to appropriate staff members. But we now seek able people with some degree of experience and a moldability that the owners can train to take the lead in this area when they go away for extended periods. Even while away, the owners will continue to be involved in the daily operations and should be consulted and included on decisions regarding any maintenance issues.
Please be willing to SEEK input about projects instead of just relying on your own past experiences, as this is a unique property. A healthy dose of humility is beneficial.
We have a BUSY reservations OFFICE where the phones ring relentlessly with calls from our guests.
When the property is full, we have hundreds of campers on site, grounds and cabins that must be cleaned every day to our extremely high standards.
Laundry is done on site. We have a busy camp store. We have a reputation for having the cleanest public restrooms and shower facilities in our area and beyond. Most of our staff are trained in all departments so that they can help wherever needed on any given day.
Applicants should be willing to work varying shifts, be ready, willing and able to do dirty work when needed and do it all with a sincere smile!
Our crew has FUN every day caring for the needs of the property and our guests. Plunging a toilet, snaking a drain or cleaning sumps may not be our all-time favorite tasks, but they need to be done and so we do them without grumbling!
Please be eager to do the same!
This is a place where you can feel a sense of pride and accomplishment as you complete your daily tasks and interact with the guests. We have families that return year after year after year to stay with us and we want to continue to meet and exceed their expectations of cleanliness, service and grounds maintenance.
Crew members must be comfortable participating in free-flowing, two-way communication at all times, be active learners and be ready to give outstanding service to others, campers and co-workers alike.
Applicants should have a valid drivers license and appropriate identification that allows them to work in the state of California, valid social security card, etc.
Fluency in English reading, writing, speaking and understanding is a must. Being multi-lingual is a wonderful bonus, especially if you speak Spanish.
Though you will live on site, you should have your own reliable transportation for getting around and to and from town.
Non-smoking, non-drinkers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Also, if you are a heavy-fragrance user (perfume, aftershave, cologne, etc) please understand that this does NOT work in our small office and in the cabins we strive for a clean, neutral scent, so fragrances cannot be worn. We have some very sensitive noses on staff (the owners of which can literally become ILL when overcome by fragrances, even when used lightly) and so the consideration of all is greatly appreciated in this regard.
Also, PLEASE KNOW BIG SUR. This is a RURAL area that seems to require a sturdy disposition. We are an hour from "town" and the closest supermarket. There is rugged natural beauty galore, but it isn't for everyone. Winters can be harsh and the road to "town" can be closed for weeks at a time. Cell phone reception is patchy at best, but if you walk to a clearing about five minutes away you'll have better results. Internet access is limited and not available in the employee cabins. The aforementioned five minute walk gets you free wifi.
Staff members are paid either a salary or on an hourly basis (DOE). In addition, housing with utilities is PROVIDED to full time employees. Living on site is a must.
This is by no means a comprehensive description of the property or a complete list of what we do. But hopefully it gives you an idea of whether or not you would like to work along with us. If you'd like to discuss more, respond to the ad with a letter explaining why you think you may be a good fit and why you would be interested in working on this property. Tell us about your specific skills and interests - tell us about YOU! If you have ever taken a Color Code test (a free version is found at http://www.colorcode.com/) tell us your results! Include a resume if you have one. Be sure to include your best contact phone number(s)!
Prospective hires will be contacted via phone to discuss everything in more detail and will be given a link to the property so you can see our website and exact location. Have your questions ready. As we move through the interview process, please also have personal and professional references ready as they will all be contacted. The initial interview will be conducted by another employee, and the best prospects will then be contacted by the owners of the campground. At some point in the process you may be invited for a try-out period of a few days. We really want a good fit for all parties involved!
We look forward to many enthusiastic, qualified replies!
Many thanks to you!
