WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
About Us: Closer to Home Community Services is a Calgary and Airdrie based not-for-profit agency that delivers a variety of services designed to meet the needs of vulnerable children and their families. Through the work done in our programs we envision:
- That every child we serve will belong to a family
- That children, youth and families will recognize and achieve their full potential
- That programs and interventions will build healthy and resilient families
About the Position: This position is a full-time live-in position for a couple able to provide intensive treatment for five to six youths in a family home environment. The Teaching Parents’ primary objective is to implement the Teaching-Family Model to encourage youth to develop to their maximum potential and enable them to successfully integrate back into their families and communities. As ‘parents’, you would be responsible for these youths 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (days off and vacation time provided). While modeling the skills needed to be a part of a healthy family, you would assist the youth in their daily activities and routines, implement treatment planning and manage crisis and escalations when needed. Benefits include a rent-free private living space within a beautiful home, utilities, food, transportation, extended health and dental coverage, a Registered Retirement Savings Plan and staff support. *Couples and individuals will be considered for these positions*
About You: As a couple, you possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with and relate to people of all ages. You are extremely detail oriented and organized and can manage multiple priorities at one time. You are compassionate individuals with a positive and empathetic approach. In addition, you are eager to learn and carry out the principles and philosophy of Closer to Home and the Teaching-Family Model.
A Diploma, Degree or Master’s Degree in a related field or an equivalent level of experience working with vulnerable children and families is required. You must be willing to work a flexible work week, including evenings, weekends and holidays. The successful candidates must also have current and valid Standard First Aid/CPR, valid Alberta Driver’s Licenses, adequate and current insurance and be willing to provide driver’s abstracts upon hire. In addition, a Police Information Check and an Intervention Record Check must be completed upon hire.
