WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Seeking two part-time ranch hands to work 25 hours over 6 days a week on private horse ranch of top professional trainer located in beautiful northwest San Diego County, California only 30 minutes from the ocean. Duties include providing ranch maintenance, repair and upkeep, and horse care, including:
· Fence repair, replacement and painting (wood rail and post; T-post and Wire)
· Run-in shelters and outbuilding repair
· Weed abatement (weed-wacking, manual weeding, manual brush trimming/cutting)
· Rain erosion control (manually filling in eroded areas and holes in driveways & horse pens, keeping drainage ditches clear)
· Trimming tree branches, picking up fallen debris and other landscape care
· Maintenance and repair of water faucets and automatic waterers
· Mucking for up to 10 horses
· Filling and cleaning of water troughs and cleaning of automatic waterers
· Helping with turn-in/out of horses
· Occasionally feeding horses
· Other duties as common and necessary on a horse ranch
Must be clean-cut, detail oriented, drug/alcohol/tobacco-free, fit and healthy self-starter, who is unafraid to ask questions if uncertain about a task and is able to take and follow direction that may be different than how you normally do things. Must have valid drivers license, be able to work in the US legally, have no criminal record, be over 28 years of age, have good English speaking communication skills, be positive and pleasant to be around, take great pride in your work, be able to work alone and complete tasks with an eye toward detail and ensure finished work looks visually appealing. Minimum 3 years, full-time, paid experience in similar ranch and animal care job is required. Good carpentry skills, basic plumbing/irrigation repair skills and ability to perform occasional heavy manual labor (weed abatement, erosion control, installing/replacing fence posts) with hand tools is mandatory. References and background check required. Prefer two friends, siblings, father/son, possibly husband/wife as long as both meet above requirements. Initial compensation is use of large, quiet, private 2 ½ bedroom mobile home (a $1500 a month value) that includes a large living room, large eat-in kitchen, covered deck, carport and secluded back yard with room for garden. Includes all utilities (electric, propane, water). Potential board for 1-2 horses for additional work hours. Because compensation is initially limited to housing, you must have some form of monetary income to meet other basic living expenses or be willing to obtain part-time employment elsewhere. Work hours can be structured to allow for additional part-time work off the ranch. Potential for right persons for stable, long-term, full-time work with the addition of a small stipend after 6 months as our business grows.
