WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We will be looking for two workamper couples beginning around April 8.
We will definitely need one couple to stay through the winter and possibly longer, with a minimum of one year. This long term position(s) will include office work, guest reservation/registration, resort laundry, maintenance, pool and grounds keeping duties. Those applying for the office position must have experience in guest registration, be computer literate and enjoy working with the public. Initially, additional training hours will be required. After training is complete, applicant must be willing to work occasional supplementary paid hours to fill in as needed.
The seasonal position will be from early spring until the first week of November and will include housekeeping, maintenance, pool and grounds keeping duties. Those applying for the housekeeping position should have an eye for detail and exceptional cleaning skills.
All applicants must be in good health with no physical limitations.
Schedules are made every Friday for the upcoming week based on the number of cottages to be cleaned, so there are not set work days. Some weeks we work fewer hours & others more, but work hours would average 20 hours per week per couple. We try to schedule couples together at least one day, but it is not always possible.
In exchange for working, we offer a full hookup site with wifi and ½ price on food and beverages at our Boathouse Bar. The full bar is open on Friday and Saturday evenings March through October serving light snacks and beverages. On Sunday afternoons, we also offer grilled chicken and fish sandwiches, hamburgers, brats & hot dogs. Please note that with the exception of tips received, we do not offer monetary compensation with the exception noted above.
We are a very small, friendly “Old Florida” style 4 acre facility with a pool, 8 upscale cottages & 18 RV sites in the little rural town of Welaka. The resort is in very natural surroundings with lots of Oak trees covered with Spanish moss. Our roads are not fully paved. Our guests love it here. We have a 5 star rating on trip advisor.
The area has multiple hiking trails, including the nearby Welaka State Forest, and across the river, the Ocala National Forest. There are lightly traveled roads throughout our area where you will often see bikers and walkers. If you like to canoe, kayak or fish, the river is just a few steps from any location in the resort. In addition to our seasonal bar, there are 2 restaurants in Welaka within walking distance. We have a Dollar General Store right in town and Walmart, Lowe’s, major grocery stores etc. are 20-35 minutes from us. We are only about 45 minutes from Historic St. Augustine and major hospital facilities.
Sites do not have concrete pads as do the other sites in the resort. Some may have wood decks. You are welcome to plant flowers or improve the site as you wish.
Thursday night is resort wide Pizza/pot luck night at the pool bar area. Many nights during the winter months are spent around our large community campfire with a glass of wine or a beer and during summers, we enjoy the pool together.
