Rural Farmhouse Caretakers Opportunity in rural Japan! - Shikoku

Seeking a reliable couple interested to experience life in a quiet Japanese mountain village looking after and helping to improve a small farmhouse and surrounding property. It’s a rustic, one-story, furnished house with a kitchen, small living room, and large main Japanese-style living/bedroom with tatami mats. There is also an attached wing with another room and a bathroom; the toilet is a basic outhouse just beside the house. The house owner lives overseas now and the house and land needs ongoing maintenance work, and needs to be lived in. There is plentiful outdoor work: landscaping, grass cutting, tree planting, weeding, stone wall building, etc. While not mandatory, some Japanese language ability would be useful; basic maintainence and/or carpentry still would also be a plus. In addition to offering accommodation and all utilities (electricity, Internet access, etc.), a modest stipend will be provided to cover other basic living needs. Please contact us if interested.
