Are you seeking a quieter life in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains? Our Ranch has homes in the beautiful and lush areas of this region. In addition to defined gardens and a small orchard, there are four homes on the property. The ranch and homes are used only by the family and their guests.
We are looking for a Caretaker (or a couple) to tend to family homes and surrounding grounds (approximately 8-10 acres). This is an exceptional longer-term, mostly full-time job opportunity for an individual or couple seeking quiet enjoyment and honest work. The ideal individual/couple will take the utmost pride in the upkeep of the homes and gardens and providing personal assistance to the family matriarch, including meal prep, housekeeping and errands/projects as assigned. Individual/couple must be industrious, responsible and caring. The ranch is approximately 20 miles from Sheridan, WY. The position reports to the matriarch and her children.
Primary Duties:
- Property maintenance including care for large vegetable garden and multiple flower/ornamental gardens, lawns,and landscaping around severalhouses
- Housekeeping/cleaningduties including kitchen, bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, laundry, and deep cleaning
- Meal preparation for familymatriarch
- Groceryshopping
- Companionship
- Miscellaneous chores/errands asneeded
- Transparent communication of schedules and workplans amongst family matriarch and adult children
Secondary Duties:
- Greenhouse maintenance
- Driving family members to appointments asneeded
Requirements:
- Ability to prioritize and communicate changing work and schedule based on changing conditions/seasons
- Gardening knowledge and experiencepreferred
- Experience with and love ofanimals
- Ability to lift50+lbs
- Enthusiastic and efficient with a sense of humor and strong workethic
- Eagerness to learn new tasks and skills, well organized andmotivated
- Own reliable transportation (a Ranch vehicle will be available for work relatedduties).
Start Date:
August 12, 2020 60-day probationary period followed by one-year contract (potentially renewable).
Compensation:
$15-$20/hour depending on experience
Hours will vary by season: 30-40 hours/week from April–September. 20-30 hours/week from October–March.
Potential to substitute cash for Health Savings Plan and/or IRA contributions.
Local housing could be provided and included as component of overall compensation.
