WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
A 23 room, 5 star lodge in Ruidoso, New Mexico, located next to the national forest and only minutes from some of the best entertainment and attractions in the southwest is looking for a 'people loving' couple to manage the operation. The successful candidates will have solid communication skills, courteous and effective phone skills and a working knowledge of basic computer use. Computer work will include booking reservations, scheduling cleaning staff and communicating through email. General Duties also include, but are not limited to checking in guests and guest relations. The successful applicant will have the ability to multitask and to deal with occasional periods of high volume guest traffic. This lodge is one of two in our organization and cooperation between the two lodges will be an important part of maintaining and growing the business through cross marketing, referrals and cooperation on maintenance and guest services. The successful applicants will play a role in developing these synergies as we move forward.
The position will include reception duties and light maintenance work including landscape care and spa service. A rudimentary knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and electrical repair would be an asset in dealing with these small repairs. A love of gardening would be a benefit as the manicured grounds are a major feature of the lodge. Though the lifestyle is generally slow paced, the hours of operation run from 9am to 9pm, 365 days a year and managers are expected to be available 24 hours a day for guest emergencies. NOTE: After hours emergencies are rare.
Through the implementation of ‘state of the art’ communications equipment, software and synergistic cooperation between this lodge and the second lodge a fair amount of flexibility and freedom is engendered and a relaxed work environment is the result.
Managing the facility will involve the oversight of three cleaning staff and coordinating contractors for major service and repair work. The successful applicant will answer directly to the general manager who operates from the office at the second lodge.
The successful applicants will live at no charge in an on-site, 800 sq. ft., single bedroom, single bath manager’s home with all utilities, phone and cable included. This home can come completely furnished or bare as per the successful applicant's desire. The office is attached to the home and offers a second 1/2 bath. The convenience of having the home attached to the office makes for a very comfortable work environment.
Successful applicants must understand that this is a position for people with no dependents that have to live with them. The house sleeps two people as a couple and the environment is one primarily for adults and not conducive to children or convalescent family living on site. Pets are welcome if they are suitable for this environment. i.e. Manageable, quiet and friendly. Note: There is no fenced area.
Managers will be expected to remain in residence during all major events, holidays and weekends. Days off will, by the nature of the position, be discussed and require approval by the general manager to insure that there are no gaps in guest care. When in residence the managers will be expected to attend to guest emergencies that may arise, regardless of days off. When not in residence (days off out of town for scheduled days off, holidays or approved personal business time off) staff will be assigned by the general manager to cover the office. The home will remain private. It is our desire to provide adequate time off for reasonable out of town personal business travel and recreation, but this job is best suited to those who enjoy being at home. Of course, the forest environment makes this desirable and deck sitting is a valued past time here. The job allows for two weeks paid vacation which can be taken only during the shoulder seasons, April and November or early December (excluding Thanksgiving or any other major events or holidays) unless special and specific arrangements have been made with the General Manager.
Maintaining the five star trip advisor status we have achieved is mandatory. Initial process and procedure training as well as conflict resolution training will be provided and the successful managers will work diligently to insure that the quality of the guest experience at all levels is upheld. NOTE: The importance of maintaining our five star rating cannot be overstated and failure to perform at this level will result in dismissal. NOTE: This is an ‘at will’ position.
Remuneration offered is $48,000 per year per couple and any performance bonuses are paid annually.
A company maintenance vehicle will be provided to be used for all company related duties.
As stated, the mangers home and all utilities including cable and phone as well as cell phones will be provided as part of the remuneration package.
All candidates who reach the short list will be required to provide personal information to allow for a complete background check. Though we are not concerned about any minor incident in the past we will eliminate any candidate who has a recent felony record or any conviction involving violence or fiduciary crimes.
