WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Buffumville Park is a Federal, US Army Corps of Engineers' Day Use Park. We hire 3 (bid-on, paid contract) Park Attendant positions. We've found 2 and are looking for Contractor couple #3 for Fridays,Saturdays (and Holidays).
The park is open from 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week starting mid May to mid September. The PA’s work different schedules but all 3 federal Holidays together.
For 12 hours each day, a PA team of two people is responsible for fee collection and janitorial services. Most couples in the past have found it easier to divide the duties- while one is at the entrance station taking in the money, the other is on the golf cart checking out the areas for trash and/or cleaning the restrooms. As you can imagine, May and September are very slow times. It may not take 2 people every minute of the 12-hour day. If it’s rainy and/or cold, the couple can stay in their motor home and keep an eye to the entrance, entrance station and parking lot for visitors. But once summer finally arrives, the park is hopping and the PA team will be busy beavers. We hire 3 summer rangers that work every weekend and Holidays. They have overlapping shifts for the best coverage. Tim, Ken, Jean and I work out a calendar to have full coverage with a duty ranger on every weekend and holiday as well.
PA’s #3 have Fridays and Saturdays. Saturday’s are the second busiest day in the park and the typical crowd is made up of mostly mom’s with kids and smaller families.
If we get into an unusually hot and humid streak of weather, all bets are off for what’s typical!
This is a paid/awarded contract for pay per day. Along with that contract pay comes a camp spot within the park with a full hookup (well water, 50 amp electric, septic, local phone), use of an electric golf cart, on-site laundry, uniforms, free training.
So future teammates, this is what we are looking for in our perspective PA’s:
1) Mature, flexible people-persons who are good at meeting and greeting the public, able to be friendly to all ages and backgrounds. Folks with great communication skills to convey the parks rules and regulations. And a team that is wise and confident enough to handle ever changing situations.
2) A team experienced in handling money, running a cash register and doing remittances
3) The couple must be physically able to pick up trash and bags of trash, up to 30 lbs. Mopping floors, wiping surfaces and cleaning toilets are part of the job. Be aware, it's not always glamorous!
