Summary
Reporting to the Manager, the Resident Caretaker (or Couple) is responsible for overall running and upkeep of the motel.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Greeting and registering guests
Showing, renting, and assigning rooms
Managing and maintaining premises
Observing and monitoring performance
Answering questions about motel policies and services
Resolving customers complaints
Preparing reports as necessary
Inspecting premises for cleanliness and appearance
Coordinating front-office duties and resolving problems
Janitorial and Security:
Collect and dispose of any garbage
Walk the outside of the location and collect and dispose of garbage in parking lot and general common areas.
Supervise cleanup and upkeep of the rooms
Clean all lighting fixtures, Change burnt out light bulbs, Dust stairwell railings, Clean glass surfaces and common areas daily, Vacuum rugs, Mop laminate flooring areas, keep clean laundry rooms each day;
Responsible for upkeep and maintaining the Office and manager site
Responsible for cleanup of rooms when maid is not available for work.
Check fire and smoke detectors and change batteries as necessary (At least once a month)
Patrol all levels of location frequently(9am-9pm) identifying issues and contact the management as required;
Keep accurate log book of incidents in location;
Other duties as assigned
Maintenance and Landscaping:
Ensure all snow removed from walk ways and stairs twice daily as required;
Maintain grounds daily, all garbage collected and disposed of;
Inspect buildings and vacant suites daily to report on any deficiencies and maintenance requests
Attend training and meet with management; work with contractors to enter location for their work as required
Tend to minor repairs.
Qualifications and Requirements
Prior Property Management experience is an asset;
Be able to present self in a professional and integral way;
Above-average problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills;
Familiarity with the motel and hospitality Act an asset;
Possess a valid driver's license and have a reliable vehicle an asset.
Handyman skills will be an asset.

You are a handyman
This position is ideal for a retired couple. This is a "live in" position, the candidate must live on site. The selected candidate will live rent free for that period of time, however cable, hydro and gas bills will be your responsibility (based on your usage - usage is metered separately for the caretaker suite)
The selected candidate must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check.
