Maintenance Position: All-Around Property Maintenance and AirBNBRental Cleaning/Maintenance, Pet Sitting
The Teamworker(s) who join us should love the outdoors/animals and enjoy physical activities/labor. Be detail oriented, self-starter, honest, reliable and be genuinely friendly/happy to be experiencing this life. In exchange for pay/trade of newly finished small Apartment you can work and play in the gorgeous Linville Gorge Wildnerness, exploring Pisgah Nat'l Forest and the Greater Lake James Area of NW NC! We are centrally located between Hickory and Asheville NC. Near the towns of Morganton and Marion NC to our east/west and Rutherfordton and Boone to our south and north. If you enjoy hiking, climbing, water sports, kayaking etc then this is your playground!
Responsibilities and Duties: (please note that this is just a general list…not everything can be done within all time limits – its just to give a basic idea of the things/jobs we will ask of you to help with)
- Cleaning the rentals in between guests (approx 8 switch outs per month per rental) *This is our most important need and want someone dedicated to DETAIL and superiour cleaning as our business relies on glowing reviews for the rentals! *
- Maintaining the Laundry for rentals (part of cleaning), keeping linens washed, clean and stored
- Maintenance of rentals/bulidings/property (landscaping, weeding, minor repairs etc)
- Be available for guests if needed on your work days
(ex: if they can't get wifi to work or lock themselves out, or have a leaking sink etc) - Weed Eating of the property (rentals, buildings, fence lines, garden-fruit bushes etc)
- Mowing all yards and areas on the property (including the small cow pasture when needed)
- Maintain landscaping at rentals, barns and general property (weeding, mulching, watering plants/flowers etc)
- Maintain trails throughout property forests
- Take all trash cans weekly to the local dump
- Cut up downed trees in the forests and off fence lines
- Cut up, split, stack firewood as needed
- Assist with fun projects to improve overall guests experiences (bring your own ideas too–tree elfs in the woods, picnic areas on property, build decks, swings, woodland seats in the forest etc.)
- Assist with projects on the property (new or remodel construction as we have funds - to improve our place)
- Care of Animals on the farm; lock chickens up at night, gather eggs, check cows etc
- Pet Sitting of 2 dogs and 3 cats (just love on them, feed, water, let out to potty etc)
Pay - $2400/month in trade/pay as lined out below
$1200 Trade Value for your Efficiency Apartment (it has kitchenette, bathroom and combined living/bedroom area..Utilities and wifi included.
$1200 Pay with a 1099
**you can potentially be paid extra if funds allow and we have additional cleanings/switch outs or projects that take you over hours - pay would be $15/hr
Schedule for the trade/pay
40 hrs worked in exchange for the pay/trade above - that can be divided between a couple if you wish but the cleaning of rentals is paramount.
You would be requested to work on the property Wed-Sun (I work weekends as a nurse so you must work all weekends) Mon-Tues are the days I can give you off, typically Sun evening through Weds Morning you can have off, we try to be flexible. On occasion you may have to do a rental cleaning on Mon/Tues if there is a switchout however, Fri/Sun are our most common switch out days.
Qualifications:
- Knowledged and experience of cleaning rentals and all that involves
- Chainsaws, skill saws, all sorts of small saws haha – mowers (push and riding) etc
- Weed Eaters (all levels from small battery to full on gas with a blade)
- Be willing to hand weed the flower beds and care for flowers, plant, water etc
- Be flexible when asked to change your daily job based on needs of the day (we strive for a schedule but being a farm with rentals, things can change a lot or frequently so flexibility is key.
- Be physically capable of the above required needs to fulfil this position
- Be friendly and professional as the guests are present and on-farm a lot
- Love and enjoy animals is a must
Your Time
On your days off you can explore and enjoy a VERY beautiful and diverse area of NW-NC. And even on the days you are working....once you are done with cleanings/chores and the hours are in....you can venture about to explore the nearby areas (but we do ask you stay within an hour or so and within signal of the property in case of emergencies or needs of the guests, which is very rare).
NOTES
I am sorry but we are not setup for a couple with children at this time. A pet may be considered, please inquire first.
