Live-In Property Caretaker Couple Wanted - Galisteo - Galisteo, NM

Retired sweet couple in their late 80’s is in need of a wonderful couple with no children, to help care for and maintain their beautiful land and estate in Galisteo, New Mexico. The couple would live in their own private 2-bedroom house on the property with their own yard and storage and can have quiet pets. Smaller pets are discouraged due to coyotes, rattle snakes and a family of mountain lions nearby…but not dangerously close! This position is available now for those who can make a long-term commitment. Galisteo is an incredibly scenic and serene place to live but it is very secluded and 2 miles from the Galisteo village. The closest grocery store is a 20 minute drive to El Dorado and a 40 minute drive to Santa Fe. It’s important that the couple be comfortable living this kind of lifestyle and for this work to be their main job.

The ideal couple would not have to leave the property to go to work, so anyone who works from home is preferred. There will be minimal training but we are looking for someone who has a lot of experience in landscaping and is a Jack-of-all-trades when it comes to home maintenance. However, one person must have a general knowledge and experience in gardening, fertilizing, drip arrogation and pruning. There are no large animals on the property besides the retired couple’s large, kind dog. The hours needed are about 40 a week so the retired couple are offering a set salary. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Landscaping
• Watering
• Mowing grass
• Handyman work around the property
• Gardening
• Dog sitting
• Running errands
• Snow plowing in winter
• Tree trimming
• Any help the couple needs

One person can do all the required duties listed above and will also have outside help from other hired workers at times. The couple can work as a team or one can do all the work on the property while the other works from their home. Another option is that the couple can provide the following services for more compensation although they are not required:

1. Cooking
2. Housekeeping
3. Laundry/Ironing

The couple is free to have friends and family over to their private home but the retired couple does not want a home business bringing in people onto the property. It’s important that the couple keep the property safe by not giving out the gate code to anyone but close friends and family. The couple’s house is not furnished so during the one-month trial period, they will be able to stay in a furnished area of the main estate or are free to move their furniture in if they are confident the position is a good fit.
