Lovely Adult Family Home located in Lynden, WA is seeking a working couple as live-in caregivers for beautiful adult family home! This is a perfect opportunity for a husband and wife with kids. Lynden is an absoutely wonderful place to live and raise a family! The schools are excellent! The town is extremely safe and clean! Lynden was founded by Dutch Farmers who identify them self as Chrisitians who love to work hard and do unto others as they would like to have done to them. The mountains and acres of open farm land that surround Lynden is breath taking! Our home has a gorgeous view of Mt Baker. Our town is known for the gorgeous tulips and daffodils, and all types of berries grow delicious out here and there are many dairy farms and locally grown fruits and vegetables! We have fresh clean air, very low crime, friendly and wholesome neighborhoods, and kids grow up with firm foundations and really enjoy being a kid!
Come care for six to eight resident who have varying levels of care. Residents usually are between the ages of 75-100 years old. They tend to have various diagnosis including but not limited to dementia/Alzheimer's disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cares range from basic simple care help with minimumal help needed, some are rehabilitating after suffering strokes or broken hips, and most stay with use until the end of their life which require 100% complete full care assistance.
A typical day starts around 6 or 7am getting the residents up and ready for the day and the day ends around 8pm at night. The couple will do all the cooking, cleaning, care help, charting, medication passing, and also are on the overnight pager. We are sleeping staff so the pages tend to be minimal after 8pm and before 6am.
The position requires the couple to work 5-24 hour shifts a week and days off will be scheduled with relief staff. However, the couple must be back on their days off to be on the pager at night by 7pm most of the year.
The couple will both be required to have or obtain all certifications required by Washington State which include:
1) CNA or Home Heath Aid (Home Care Aid) licensed in the State of Washington (can transfer in out of state CNA /Home Health Aid licenses from some states)
2) Dementia Specialty Certificate (through DSHS in WA state)
3) Mental Health Specialty Certificate (though DSHS in WA state)
4) Nurse delegation course (3 hours self lead) and obtain certificate (Wa state DSHS approved)
5) Diabetes Specialty (3 hour self lead) and obtain certificate (WA state DSHS approved)
6) Current First Aid/CPR Card (course must have been done in person; online courses are not recognized in WA state)
7) 2 step TB test started within 3 days of hire and completed within the first 3 weeks of hire
8) Wa state food workers card (1 hour self lead course)
9) Pass a DSHS ran background check followed by a FBI fingerprint check (this is actually very quick process). Must have a clean background check
Compensation:
$78,000 a year ($39,000 each person). Salary
$2,000 sign on bonus ($1,000 each per person, Paid individually after completing the first 6 months of work)
FREE housing for you and your children; FREE utlilites; 3 FREE meal a day 5 days a week when you are working (housing includes either a downstairs 2 bedroom apartment or an upstairs 3 bedroom plus bathroom)
One week paid vacation is offered after completing the first two years
Health Insurance policy will be offered. Employer will pay up to $200 a year per person towards dental expenses
*For couples who go onto completing their resident manager certifications, there may be an opportunity for couples who want to become owners when they meet all state requirements, have approximately $100,000 towards down payment, and after a minimum of 2 years employment with this employer.
