Maine’s Cuckolds Fog Signal and Light Station is seeking two keepers — partners who are gracious hosts, skilled in hospitality and guest services, adept at building maintenance and repairs, and able mariners—launch captain’s license needed.
Keepers will reside on an island off the beautiful rock coast of Maine, welcome visitors, and act as guides, hosts, and housekeepers. Light meal service. Food, linens, events are catered from the mainland.
Position requires winning personality, “can-do” maintenance skills and small boat handling. Captain’s license required. We are seeking keepers with a service ethic, an appreciation for maritime tradition, and an ability to make every visitor carry away lasting memories from their experience aboard this historic Light Station.
The Light Station is situated at the entrance to Boothbay Harbor, 1/3 of a mile offshore, near the Southern tip of Southport Island. Keepers will be in residence from mid-April through mid-October, beginning April 2013.
Position offers residence in a keepers’ quarters on historic island for six months, a monthly stipend, and an incomparable experience.
