WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Ticaboo and Offshore Marina: We’re hiring a couple to work in housing maintenance and upkeep and associated administrative duties. The couple would work the same 5 day (day hours) work week and have the same 2 days off to explore and enjoy our remote, but beautiful area. This job is seasonal, but we do have year round operations and for the right mutual "fit" there can be longer opportunities. All interested applicants must apply online and must take and pass pre-employment drug and background screening.
The ideal couple is “hardy” and able to work and live in a very remote location with skills in light maintenance, cash register/POS operation, cash handling, customer service and have the ability to work outside doing physical work in a hot, dusty environment for hours at a time. The job is much more complex and physical than a typical “campground host” position.
About Us: Ticaboo Mgmt operates lodging/hospitality, retail, food and beverage, marine services, boat/ATV rentals, guided adventure services and tours in Ticaboo, Offshore Marina (2 miles south of Ticaboo) and Hite Adventure Outpost (50 miles from Ticaboo off of Hwy 95).
We are located on the very remote Northern end of Lake Powell, in Southern Utah. We are “off the grid’ and generate our own power and water, so the pandemic that has affected much of the world, has largely no affected our way of life. We are located on millions of acres of open land that support most every type of outdoor interest and we’re located 10 miles north of bullfrog Marina at Lake Powell, that supports most every water and fishing sport interest.
Our nearest “town of size” is either Richfield Utah, and Grand Junction Colorado which are both approximately a 3 hour drive.
Our environment: We are located on the Colorado Plateau in the high desert where its hot and dry and summertime temps can reach triple digits during the day, and 50s at night. Most jobs and roles are physically demanding due to the living and working environment. There are very few trees and it does not rain often and there are dust storms. The beauty of where we sit is amazing and we call it “The National Park views, and life without the crowds”, as much of what we have and can go out and play in is undiscovered.
Our ideal employee based on successful current employees: Our remote location is the number one factor in determining success or failure working and living here. Successful employees have “healthy outdoor interests and habits” and enjoy being remote and isolated. They are self-starters and self-directors and self-sufficient who realize their success or failure at work and at living here is largely in their control, not that of the employer. Cell phone signals are intermittent, and there is no “night life” or “social scene” and one or both must enjoy solitude as those of us who have lived here for years do. Having a healthy attitude and lifestyle when it comes to your mental and physical health is also key.
For couples, it is important both person’s share the same emotional and physical “wants and needs” of remote living and working. Successful couples have typically been well grounded, healthy and share the same interests as true “partners and friends” in life and adventures and activities. Those couples that were not successful typically came down to one half of the couple being unhappy strictly due to the location and influenced the other. It is very important you truly like each other and have a strong/healthy relationship.
Housing: We offer RV hook ups in our small RV park for a utility fee (utilities are expensive to produce here) on a monthly basis. Employees are responsible for their own internet set up and connection, and we do have open wi-fi that is free in most of our business operations. There is some on site housing for a fee (typically $300 a month) that does include an internet connection and will accommodate a couple. These are small fully contained “cowboy units” with the utility fee deducted bi monthly. The fee is a total fee for the units utilities and not per person.
