House Parents - Christian Maternity/Life Skills Home - New Bern, NC

We are a nonprofit Christian ministry dedicated to providing a safe residential environment and teach independent living skills to young women (ages 18-29). We work primarily with pregnant women and young mothers to help them achieve lasting stability. Our clients are asked to stay with us for one year.

Our ideal candidates are a mature married couple who can model a Christian home environment.

This is a live-in position, with respite available. We offer free room and board, plus a salary of $30,000 per year. Based on the layout of the home, this position would not be suitable for couples with children or pets. It is possible for one spouse to work out of the home full-time while in this position.

House parents are responsible for the following:

--Providing emotional support and structure;

--Teaching independent living skills, including cooking, cleaning, basic child/infant care, budgeting/financial management;

--Lead Bible studies and family outings;

--Model healthy communication and conflict resolution skills;

--Provide transportation to residents’ school and medical appointments;

--Take daily notes and make assessments of residents’ compliance with program and case plans;

--Supervise up to five residents;

--Work closely with Executive Director to coordinate services for residents.

Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation and pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Preferred qualifications: Background in medicine/nursing, ministry, or social work.
