Off Grid Live/Work Trade for Hardworking Couple - Taos, NM
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We are seeking a hard-working, honest, dependable couple to live at our remote mountain location long-term. We have a 30-acre paradise in the isolated high mountains of Northern New Mexico 1 hour from Taos and 2 hours from Santa Fe. The Sipapui ski mountain is a twenty minute drive away, & the Las Vegas Montezuma free mineral hot springs are 40 minutes away. Our spot is gorgeous, we often see red tail hawks, eagles and hummingbirds diving off our cliffs. We can hear the sound of the gushing waterfall in the valley below our cliff. The property is home to coyotes, occasional bears, and other wild animals. This is a remote location that gets a lot of snow in the winter, so although the nearest town is only a 15-minute drive down the mountain, and major "services" are only about 45 minutes away, this place has a very isolated feel.
We are looking for people interested in a long-term work/trade situation. We are offering you a private beautiful 1-room cabin built into a rock wall on the side of a cliff. It is very simple with a queen-size bed, running water from a pristine mountain spring, a wood-burning cooking stove (people with experience managing wood-burning stoves are ideal!), nearby outhouse and shower- no electricity. You are welcome to bring your own RV. It is ideal to have a 4 wheel drive with good mountain tires here, and a car charger for your cell phone. Verizon is the best cell phone service here. We are seeking honest, kind, self-sufficient, strong, hard-working individuals who love mountains and solitude. We will provide organic rice, beans/lentils, eggs, vegetables, and some meats as well as olive oils, spices, coffee, and tea for you to prepare on your own.
There is always work to do here! The major projects are to continue work on an in-progress green house build and care for an existing chicken coop. Experience in building structures and establishing organic permaculture vegetable gardens is ideal. Other responsibilities will include gathering firewood (chainsaw experience is a huge bonus!), helping us manage our teepee for AirBnB guests, helping to care for cats, horses, chickens & dogs, establishing water drip systems for flower & vegetable gardens, helping to build cabins, & creating a sauna.
